Not-so-dad Dad Sneakers
Hey everyone!
I’m a dad with two little kids, one is already very active and the other is on their way there. This means that when we go out, I’m standing or running around most of the time.
I have quite a bit of sneakers but they’re mostly Jordans, vans, some retro sneakers and a couple of New Balances.
The NB are my most comfortable sneakers but they’re chunky(er) and more casual.
I’m looking for sneaker that’s a bit nicer that I can keep up with my kids and look “dressed” up in. For example, when we go out we go to our local brewery, a nice restaurant (for kids, I mean), or kids birthday parties.
For the “nicer” outings I’d like to be able to wear a “nice” tshirt or a polo top. I also live in the south US where summers are really hot so shorts is a big part of my wardrobe.
Currently looking at various ON running shoes, Nike Vomero 5 (which I think will have the same issue as the NB) or the Nike Lunar Roam, all in some shade of white.
Does anyone have any inspiration outfits that meets this? I can’t find any pictures of these types of outfits or I’m using the wrong keywords in Google

is your primary focus function (a shoe for physical activity that looks decent) or aesthetics (a shoe that looks good that can handle some physical activity)
is there anything pictured in #waywt or #inspiration that would fit the bill?
I think I have a few of the latter with some ASIC Gel Lyte 3, and Saucony Jazz. However, the issue is that because these are retro, they don’t fit with the outfits I’m looking for
Salomon xt6, hoka mafate speed 4
For a dressier sneaker, consider a plain white leather one, think common projects

Completely different direction, these kinda shoes are usually more expensive (Koio Capris are $240ish), less comfortable, require break in, are worse for outright running, and fit more slim, however they have much much nicer build quality/feel, good for walking, and can last way way longer. Plus they look super neat.
they dont last way longer lmao
they last the same as every other sneaker
plus as you've said, complete stylistic departure from what they've stated
I would not wear common project+clones out while wrangling kids tbh
you named more reasons not to get them than to get them?
Common projects and other white leather sneakers are kinda dated now. If you’re trying to avoid dad sneakers, they are not the move
Struggling to understand how a shoe can be less comfortable but good for walking
