What style do you dress in? Zara is hit or miss. Def stay away from Zara’s faux leather. They do make lots of great stuff though

ebay and thrift stores being able to learn how to maintain your clothes properly will help with the "affordable" and "lasting" parts to boot style is subjective - if you know the kinds of clothes you like (or ideally have pictures of clothes you like) you might get more specific brand recs

another for secondhand. Aside from other sites people listed, Poshmark is pretty good In-person thrift stores can be great but depends on the neighborhood

i think the best thrifting tip is look for places with nobody under the age of 65 and visit regularly

Probably not as useful advice in somewhere less densely populated and segregated but the ones I’ve had good luck at are often on the border of rich and poor neighborhoods/towns I would name examples but if you’re not from Long Island they would mean nothing lol And bonus points if it’s a charity shop, I’ve found for-profit stores tend to price based on the item’s perceived value and also sometimes will have a “better rack” or “designer” area (granted they’ll miss stone island being designer but include nike, still annoying though)

All my stuff is on Vinted. Way way better than thrifting. Was astounded to see Levi's jeans selling for £60 pounds when I can cop €300+ chinos for just €15 and €200+ sweatshirts for €40+.
