DistantHorizions is completely and utterly broken

Can you take a screenshot of your mods folder?
Sure, one second
its barebones since its purely for testing

That looks fine
I dont see anything weird in the logs
Weirder yet
its crashing without any crash report
zero. none.
just latest.log
Does it work with just DH?
nope. still breaks
What shader are you using?
Oh okay
none
Its completely barebones
fresh install, breaks on singlepayer or multiplayer
no data from anywhere
Is there anything special about your hardware?
Tis a Mac.
What minecraft launcher are you using?
Oh...
Standard
Well those are known to not have great openGL support
i feel like bad news is coming and i dont like that
i was right.
Yea DH on a Mac is hit or mis
Can you try disabling instanced rendering in DH's config?
Yeah
Macs may be powerful but they are a nighmare the second you venture outside of Apples little system
Yep
Sure
it was working just fine not long ago, then i started this fresh install to try a new modpack and things went south again
Were you using an older version of DH?
yeah, though using the same file doesnt help here.
where is this in the config?
Somewhere under quality, generic rendering, iirc
or do you mean the in game menu
Both are possible
ic
In the config file you can ctrl f
hmm
i cant find it?
I'll grab my laptop to take a look
kk
ill keep skimming through the .txt
oh wait
its only a feature in the nightly builds
from #links-n-downloads
oof.
so can you try using those
kk
Are you using an M series Mac or intel?
M
M1, specifically
Mini
Hmm
Crashed.
It partially works for me on intel
I was using 2.2.1
Log?
it used to work
but now it just dies. its so frigging weird
sure
im joining a server to just not have to try to render a world every time, the same thing happens either way
with instanced rendering disabled?
let me double check
By the looks of it, embeddium/oculus is causing issues
its under advanced, graphics, generic object rendering
Yeah. If i add another mod called YSM to the mix, the game actually begins to cry out that its broken and cites every manner of random mod you can think of
'
that has nothing to do with it
that, or it cites mods that dont even exist at all
with the option disabled^
kinda lingered for a second but died in the end
2.2.1 (the version that worked before)
the mods alongside were also there
That being Oculus, the compat, and embeddium
Rubidium Stright up never works
Thats rubidium for you
mhm.
@neko. (ignore, im just switching devices)
https://mclo.gs/LFy2m7H i got this running embeddium, oculus, and dh 2.2.1 on forge 1.20.1 and the errors are very similar
I see
disabling oculus and embeddium fixed it, which is odd
Doesnt for me, it just crashes when I try to change the render/spawn in
idk what else you could do
Baffling.
:horror:
i diagnose you with Apple
ugh. I need a pc so badly.
I can't even use SSH properly on mac lmao
Welp.
@The Pi Guy (GMT+1) i hope youre taking notes...
:kekw:
I am not
(he's planning on buying a mac)
All you need to write is "Mac is incompatibility nightmares" and that's all you need to know.
Never buying a mac again-
Anywho, thanks for trying
np!
Try disabling the whole generic rendering and not only the instanced rendering, so:
- instanced off
- generic off
- clouds off
- beacons off
That is the last thing I can think of
BNA, nice pfp!
Still broke.
@Puhpine (GMT +2) i may have found the culprit
it seems it has something to do with distant generation, possibly
dsiabling that suddenly allowed stuff to work
Huhhh
That doesn't make any sense to me
doesnt make sense to me either but- Mac.
it does work now though, for better or worse.
so- disabling it did make an undeniable difference
Very strange
But I'm glad you figured it out
What is you enable it again?
I wouldn't be surprised if it continued working :mac:
