Why doesn't dh generate chunks beyond some limit?
Even when the distance is set to 4k. It will generate somewhere around 128 chunks radius, then stop. It will still show everything in range, e.g. the spawn that i can clearly see here, but wont generate anything beyond some arbitrary point. If it is an expected behavior then ok, if not, will try do dump logs, mods etc.

World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium and Lithium, these mods can improve generation speed by a couple percent.
Make sure to remove the C2ME mod as it significantly slows down DH chunk generation by up to 35%.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)Try the second part
Seems to generate chunks, but still does not show them. Meanwhile I can see the spawn that is much further away then those chunks generating. Seems that it just does not want to build lods for chunks far away from the player

This also does not seem to be a problem with Big Globe's hyperspeed generation. Disabling the integration just makes the chunk gen slower, but still without any lods
And what about restarting Minecraft?
Did not help at all, tried switching some settings, turning on/off shaders, it just does not want to load lods in more than a some defined radius. Can this be an expected behavior for ram concerns or whatever?
No this should never happen. If it's out of ram the performance will suck or it'll crash, but it should still display the chunks
Can you try with the nightly build from #links-n-downloads ?
Alright, latest one works great, and the hyperspeed integration is really hyperspeed here with stable 80fps on max cpu load, respect on such an amazing work between the updates!
As to not leave the current thread, is journeymap integration planned? Waypoint beams are currently rendered in front of every lod, which leads to some confusion. Or should i rather address this directly to JM team?
thats not planned no. im not sure who you should direct it to
Other mods can use DH's generic rendering (the thing that renders beacons) so if JM devs what to add DH support for waypoints they can I guess
