You unzip it, take out the jar from "merged", then install it just like any other mod
yea i did
its all loaded up but its not actually working
like i can access the menus of distant horizons but no extra terrain is being loaded in
Do you have any other mods installed?
yea mainly a bunch of performance mods like sodium
i had all of them with 1.21.0 DH and it didnt cause any issues
Can you send logs?
/logsstored
You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are usually located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link.oh oops
The latest.log file please
i cant read sorry
It's alright
Don't see anything weird in the logs
It also doesn't work when shaders are disabled?
yeah im not using any shaders
there is a custom resource pack but idk if that would make a difference
Can you set your normal render distance to 2 and send a screenshot?
sure 1s
It shouldn't
I assume you're talking about wynncraft? Because I've used dh on wynncraft before and it worked fine
yessir

Weird, it looks like the Alex caves issue, without having Alex caves
Can you try with just DH?
yea sure
now im getting chopped xd

So it's working now, but you have giant pillars?
yea
Try deleting you LODs from
/lodstored

unfortunately its still brokken with all my performance mods
is there any way to turn off the fade to black thing thats going on? maybe thats the issue idk
There is no fade to black in DH
There is fade from vanilla to DH
And fog
/fog
You can remove fog in the config at: Advanced > Graphics > Fog > "Disable vanilla fog" or with mods like Sodium Extras, Optifine, or some other fog removal mod.
If the fog is still there and you have BCLib installed, you have to disable BCLib’s fog too.
/overdraw
Hole at the edge of vanilla Render Distance, especially during movement:
This is caused by either vanilla terrain not loading in fast enough, or shader's incorrect overdraw prevention implementation or configuration (if you use one)
Some world gen speed improvement can be found when adding these two mods, but the affect will be minor:
- Noisium
- Faster Random
There is another mod that may help:
C2ME
. However, it can decrease DH generation speed by up to 35%.
The easiest fix is to move slower and/or ignore it. This hole is most visible while moving over not generated (by vanilla) terrain. Moving over that terrain every subsequent time may not create the hole. And moving slower will give MC more time to load the chunks as you go.
If none of that helped, you can also tune the overdraw prevention, look at the third section to know how.
Low quality full blocks behind and around non-full block, e.g. fences or ladders:
This is intended behavior, to prevent holes in the world while you move, DH will overlap with some part of the vanilla terrain.
How much of the terrain is covered is determined by the overdraw prevention:
- 1.0
will mean DH LODs start where vanilla chunks end.
- 0.0
will mean that DH render everywhere starting from your position.
To fix this, you can either:
- Increase your vanilla RD, which will move the DH LODs further from you.
- Tune the Overdraw Prevention setting, see the next section to know how.
Where to edit the overdraw prevention setting?
Overdraw prevention setting can be edited inside the DH config under:
Advanced > Graphics > Advanced Graphics
But if you use shaders, they will override and take control of the overdraw prevention.
In that case, check the shader's settings, if overdraw prevention is not there, contact the shader devs or change the shader you use./slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium and Lithium, these mods can improve generation speed by a couple percent.
Make sure to remove the C2ME mod as it significantly slows down DH chunk generation by up to 35%.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)Try the second part
nothing changed with the second part
i assume u meant the wireframe stuff
yes
Some mod must indeed cause DH to be hidden then
/binary
Try a binary search and figure out which mod is causing it.
So disable half of the mods, see if issue is still there, if yes disable half again etc etc until you find the mod that's causing the issue.
@Smartboard I had the same problem, set Quality preset to 4
Here is the full DH file for wynn https://github.com/DrBiznes/WynnLODGrabber/releases/download/LOD-11-05-24/wynnlods.zip
just tried that, still same issue
try using my config
.minecraft/config
To edit the config, press the button next to the FOV slider to edit the config.
The config file found in .minecraft/config/DistantHorizons.toml
unfortunately still didnt work
ill try what the other guy suggested and see if its a mod causing the issues
but it was all the same mods that i used on 1.21.1 so idk
what mods are you using?

works fine with this mod list

try bad optimizations
idk
look at the top xd
I mean removing it
oh
didnt wor
How do i get 1.21.4 DH to work?
I have it installed but it says i need indium but the latest version for indium is only for 1.21.1?
Update Sodium to 0.6+ it includes Indium in itself
If you are using Lunar, you can’t do anything as it forces you to use Sodium that does not officially include Indium
@Smartboard Did you ever manage to resolve your issue? I'm having the exact same problem rn with a fairly similar list of mods, so just thought I'd ask before I commenced binary search/making my own thread
Nop I haven’t been playing much but when I get back on I’ll do binary search
Also aren’t u a d2 lowman guy I swear I’ve seen u before
Yeah lol
lmao i forgot abt that
small world
Did you ever get it to work? I installed DH and wanted to use it on Wynncraft but my render distance is stuck at 8 or something similar
I guess one of the mods I have installed is causing the issue. Was hoping you might know which one it was for you
After going through my modlist it appears that wynntils is causing the issue 😦
Oh weird, never heard of wynntils causing problems with dh
Apparently disabling a DH setting fixed it in the past. But the guys over on the wynntils discord don't remember which one. Wynntils also recently updated to 1.24.1 so that may have broken some things
I've had the exact same issue with Wynntils and DH pretty much since Wynntils updated to 1.21.4
weird
Can't find any other mention of it
But yeah apparently it's been an issue for a long time
I searched the wynntils discord for "distant horizons" and looked though each page
I wasn't able to find any previous fix
@Puhpine (GMT +2) @nwoof2012 @Aruloci @Smartboard I found the problem, you can fix it by disabling "gammabright keybind" in wynntils under Utilities, OR if you still want fullbright just press "g" (or your gamma keybind" twice

thanks very much
Jees that's some dedication
I just disabled every setting then turned them back on one at a time
This has been added to the FAQ.
Good research!

I'm curious why a keybind would cause LOD rendering to be corrupted though, that's weird.
My guess is that it's a bug with how they handle gamma/fullbright
I installed a separate fullbright mod and have no issues
if you still want fullbright just press "g" (or your gamma keybind" twiceIs this not with wynntils then?
If it's turned on when you load into the world the LODs don't show up
But if you toggle it it works just fine
Hmm. They probably just remove MC's lightmap (which DH needs for rendering).
Fair enough.
I can try to take a look into it when I get back home
But to me this seems like an issue with wynntils not DH
I'd be interested to see what you find, best of luck 👍
I don’t have Wynntils installed but do have a different mod that can do fullbright stuff, seems it probably also does something destructive enough with how they handle fullbright to mess with DH
