I have a ryzen 5 7600x
is it supposed to take 5+ hours, I only set the lod to 256.

probably expected
world generation just takes a long time
what is your cpu load in dh's settings?
12 threads
i think thats the only cpu settings?
no in the main page of dh's settings
okay so your cpu load is already at max
so this is the fastest itll get
mostly
I saw some people loading it in like 3 mins though
thats people loading in chunks that were already generated at some point
or they have a 192 core epyc cpu
is there any way I can speed up the procces?
/slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium and Lithium, these mods can improve generation speed by a couple percent.
Make sure to remove the C2ME mod as it significantly slows down DH chunk generation by up to 35%.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)threaddripper moment
epyc cpu's have even more cores
I have noisium installed but not lithium
you have the nightly builds, which means adding the c2me mod will also help a bit
(it will slow down DH on DH 2.2.1 and older)
I'm not planning on changing my main version so I guess I'm good
I'm on 1.21.4
then its not even possible to use DH 2.2.1 or older for you
threadripper is max 96 cores
you should have lithium installed, great optimization mod. Probably Faster Random as well, it should help a bit
I will do that thank you guys
Faster Random can slow DH gen down for some reason
really? dang
More benchmarks are needed but for now there is one that saw no change and one that saw a generation speed increase with Faster Random on its own but with Faster Random + Nosium was slower then Noisium on its own
More benchmarks as as always needed
Also dissable shaders, and turn down every other setting, set vanilla render distance to minimum, fps cap to 30, tp 1000 blocks up, and chill😎
