Lods
Do I still need to explore the area for the chunks to load in? I sat for a little and flew in creative and chunks near me had to load in

Are you on multiplayer or just single player world?
/server
Distant Generation doesn't work in multiplayer, meaning DH won't be able to generate LODs for chunks outside the vanilla render distance.
Instead, as you travel around the world, LODs will be generated for areas you've visited.
In the next update, DH 2.3, you will be able to add DH to your server granted it's running a compatible mod/plugin loader (Fabric, (Neo)Forge, Bukkit and their derivatives). This will allow the server to generate LODs and send them to the client, making distant generation possible on multiplayer.
If you wish to try 2.3 early, read everything in this thread: https://discord.com/channels/881614130614767666/1285883332768563284
Keep in mind that this build is still experimental, we do not encourage using it on large servers until further testing.
If you are on a server without DH 2.3+ that is still true
If you are in singleplayer it was nerver true
(well probably around the time of 1.0 or so it might have been, but this was years ago)
1.0 would probably be useless now
Single player
Well then no just wait and the lods will generate
how long does it take thats not that far from spawn and ive been in for a while idk why it hasnt loaded
/slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium and Lithium, these mods can improve generation speed by a couple percent.
Make sure to remove the C2ME mod as it significantly slows down DH chunk generation by up to 35%.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)Could you do the second part please
I was on I paid for the whole cpu does that work or do I need to use aggressive to see if it works
DH generation is working
LODs not displaying is your problem right now
/logs
You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are usually located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link.I would try with balanced
Wouldn’t that make it slower tho
It will make the generation slower, but the generation is working
It may be that DH uses all the CPU for generation and nothing is left for the LOD loading so that you can see it and then balanced might help, but I don't believe that is the issue
Do u think I should wait on aggressive or I paid for the whole cpu to let the generation do its thing and when I play put it on balanced or something lower so I can actually see?
Try reducing your DH RD to 64, if that does not show up then it is probably some other mod that is hiding DH LODs
is that the LOD chunk render distance radiance?
yes
it looks like this
also is there a way I can increase how far I can see bc you can see there its like foggy kinda idk what it is and this is beautiful
/fog
You can remove fog in the config at: Advanced > Graphics > Fog > "Disable vanilla fog" or with mods like Sodium Extras, Optifine, or some other fog removal mod.
If the fog is still there and you have BCLib installed, you have to disable BCLib’s fog too.
If that won't work the fog might be an Iris 1.8.x issue
Try updating it
There is, but generating 1024 RD will take ~24 hours of non stop generation on I paid for the whole CPU
A bit less on 14900KS, more on lower end CPUs
.
Can you try running MC with only DH and no other mods?
Do you still want me to do this? I didn’t see it
i took all mods out excpet dh and it still does it idk
is this on a new world as well?
yeah I had too
the other world needs the mods to play it
this is js now the chunks or wtv go away
unlike this where it stays
At this moment I would just assume the current nightly is in some way broken
could it be my minecraft render distance?
idk if that affects it
can you send log just in case?

Except compiling an older version of DH yourself, and I have no idea how to do that myself
I think GitLab has some artifact history, so the working nightly builds might still be available somewhere for some time
yea something is definitely wrong
can you try the release candidate 3 from #announcements ?
mod right
not plugin
correct
when I load on my world do u want me to send my log, or see if it works
nightly build seems to be working fine for me. "enable rendering" is true in DH's settings right?
if it works, i dont need logs
yeah
alr it works
is there a way I can increase my view though?
with "view" you mean render distance?
I want something like this i got shaders and stuff its js not on rn
check DH's settings for that
would this be with the dh render distance
you need to spend a LOT of time configuring every shader setting to get something like that
i would guess this is no less than 512 chunks render distance
I am pretty sure that is on an unreleased shader anyways
yea that looks like bliss
whats a good recomendation to play on
depends on how long you want to wait
https://discord.com/channels/881614130614767666/1328796313977884692
It is voyager 3.0 unreleased
aah okay
missed that
what I was gonna do was put it at 4000 and wait a couple hours and set it down it like 256 when playing
which 4000 will take weeks
yea that's a valid approach
alright
does the quality preset do much?
i have it on extreme rn
it does exactly what it says
it increases the quality of the distant chunks
you might want to try something lower than extreme
your pc probably wont like that very much
alr i got a 4070 super and 5900x im not sure how good thatll be with extreme i cant lie
Extreme can be too much for a 4090
DH can bring any PC to its knees if you turn up the settings too high
Depends on your RD
😭
ill try out high
any reccomendations for max horizontal resolution? idk what it does but Ik what the veritcal quality and dropoff distance does
It all falls under the quality preset
Cycle through the max horizontal resolution options and you'll know what it does
