Can't seem to get DH to work with Shaders in 1.20.1
Hi,
Please be patient as I am not very knowledgeable in modding but I am trying my best to research. I am currently trying to start a server through server hosting. I am using forge 1.20.1 because most of the other mods I want to use will be on forge. I can't seem to get Distant Horizon to work with shaders no matter what I do.
I used oculus with rubidium and DH. DH will load fine without shaders but once I add in shaders the extra chunks just disappears. I also tried using embeddium instead of rubidium but it just crashes the game instead. Does anyone have an idea of what works? Please help.
Thank you for your time.

You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are usually located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link.^ do that for the crash with embeddium
okay ill send right now.
Is this the right way to do it?
yes
I can list out the exact versions of each mod if you need but I saw people on reddit said these versions worked for them not sure why its not working for me
yea what versions of dh, embeddium and oculus do you have?
DistantHorizons-2.2.1-a-1.20.1-forge-fabric
oculus-mc1.20.1-1.7.0
embeddium-0.3.31+mc1.20.1
I was using rubidium before and it can load the game but wont load the shaders with DH
I deleted rubidium to use embeddium
Solution
update oculus to 1.8.0
okay let me test that real quick
I think that did help. For starters the game is loaded but I get this message
does it happen when loading in with shaders off?
so turn off shaders log out and get back in?
yes
okay yea that seems to be the issue
ii think this fixed it... thanks man..
lastly do you have any rec on the settings? lol
i dont
okay i think this fixed it thank you so much...
Do you know if i need noisium? i saw a post to install it hwen i downloaded embeddium
for the shaders not working, get a dh compatible shader from here https://gist.github.com/Steveplays28/52db568f297ded527da56dbe6deeec0e

noisium helps speed up world generation
oh okay
alright thats all from me then thank you again
👍
/slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium and Lithium, these mods can improve generation speed by a couple percent.
Make sure to remove the C2ME mod as it significantly slows down DH chunk generation by up to 35%.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)It will help, it is not required
Also with DH 2.3+ (current nightly, next release) C2ME helps instead of hurting the performance
Definelety nothing related to shaders though
