Am I impatient or is DH defusing to increase its render distance?
On singleplayer, jacked CPU load to max and set LOD chunk render distance to 4096 and waited about an hour. LOD on 4096 is the same as at 1024. Will send a mod list shortly, I am using BSL shaders at the moment & no texture packs so I'm not sure what's causing this. Any ideas?

title was supposed to say refusing not defusing btw lol
believe it or not one of these is at 4096 and the other is at 1024
better still
turns out it looks exactly the same
at 256 chunks 💀
It takes actual ages to render out enough LODs to hit 1024 render distance let alone 4096
I'm not sure how long it would take but we are talking closer to the weeks timeframe
/slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium and Lithium, these mods can improve generation speed by a couple percent.
Make sure to remove the C2ME mod as it significantly slows down DH chunk generation by up to 35%.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)You have to wait 24h to generate 1024 RD
For 4096 it will be more like 2 weeks
unholy he double hockey sticks because i can't swear 😔
even if i manually fly to the chunks which im facing?
as in, i went to the formation which i showed in the screencap
with creative
and then flew back
Flying should not speed up anything as you divert a bit of CPU to generate vanilla chunks too, which in the end should make the whole process slower
But if you want to fly around no one will stop you
It is definitely less boring then standing in 1 place
I'm getting one month predicted gen time on the latest nightly and a xeon e5-2698 V3 constantly turboing to 3.1 GHZ
lol
So yeah it takes forever
