My render distance slider doesn't go above 44 chunks. Is there a way to change that?
I know there is on Bobby. I just can't figure it out for DH

DH does not allow you to increase the vanilla RD any higher then vanilla
DH has its own lower quality LOD chunks that do not decimate your performance
/config
To edit the config, press the button next to the FOV slider to edit the config.
The config file found in .minecraft/config/DistantHorizons.toml
The recommended vanilla RD with DH is between 8 and 16
Ok.. so then how do I get the actual distant horizons? I am running good fps but I am not seeing the far away chunks
ty for the help
/slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium and Lithium, these mods can improve generation speed by a couple percent.
Make sure to remove the C2ME mod as it significantly slows down DH chunk generation by up to 35%.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)Try these things
Thank you.. I have lithium but not Noisium since my understanding is it's irrelevant while playing on a server. I have Nvidium and lithium. I literally turned C2ME back on due to a comment in this discord lol. I'll turn it back off and see what happens. Thanks guys
Also.. does this mean there's no setting for the "horizon" distance? Is it default?
Yep, it was C2ME, combined with the fact that I had vanilla render distance cranked. It's working great now. Wayyy faster than bobby. Thanks guys!!
If you switch to nightly the C2ME bug was fixed and it gives a world gen boost instead
Shader support is broken though with nightly
Also distant generation won't work on servers
/server
Distant Generation doesn't work in multiplayer, meaning DH won't be able to generate LODs for chunks outside the vanilla render distance.
Instead, as you travel around the world, LODs will be generated for areas you've visited.
In the next update, DH 2.3, you will be able to add DH to your server granted it's running a compatible mod/plugin loader (Fabric, (Neo)Forge, Bukkit and their derivatives). This will allow the server to generate LODs and send them to the client, making distant generation possible on multiplayer.
If you wish to try 2.3 early, read everything in this thread: https://discord.com/channels/881614130614767666/1285883332768563284
Keep in mind that this build is still experimental, we do not encourage using it on large servers until further testing.
Yes that makes sense. I flew around and loaded the areas around me.
