Distant Generation Time
Is this value/time required normal? I was using chunky before but it was creating issues so I removed it and turned distant generation on and was prompted with this.
Solution:Jump to solution
Chunky generates real chunks and saves those next to all other real chunks, so not really. But you can try trimming the world with MCA selector

What is your render distance in dh's settings? What cpu do you have?
I currently have it set to 512, and my CPU is Ryzen 7 7700X
3 hours sounds about right
It's been fluctuating, and is currently saying 13 hours
Fluctuating how much?
It goes from 3-4 hours estimated to between 12-24 hours estimated every few minutes
I started it before I left for work this morning and it said around 18 hours before I left.
The long duration time is probably expected
Is there a way to reset the process/clear the pre-generation done by chunky and have DH do it again?
Solution
Chunky generates real chunks and saves those next to all other real chunks, so not really. But you can try trimming the world with MCA selector
And if you want DH to start over, you can delete the SQLite file:
/lodstored
Single Player:
- Overworld:
.minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Nether: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM-1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- End: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIM1/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
- Custom Dimensions: .minecraft/saves/WORLD_NAME/DIMENSION_FOLDER/data/DistantHorizons.sqlite
Multiplayer:
- .minecraft/Distant_Horizons_server_data/SERVER_NAME/
Or move it somewhere else if you want a backup
Thank you, I'll try moving the SQLite and update the thread after.
Deleting the SQLite file did what I was looking for, it's only importing about 1.6m chunks and is only going to take around 2 hours. Thank you again for the help!
Nice! Glad I could help
hey i wanted to add onto this thread
i set my client's render distance to 4096 (the max) just to test this out, but im not seeing updates while im in game. the overlay also doesnt update until i move my player.
what is the generation order? is it going in a square or is it radially from the player?
Im gonna ping @Puhpine for visibility if you dont mind :)
what do you mean with not seeing updates?
DH generates the chunks closest to you, so a circle, but the final shape will be a square
It seems like the LODs i can see are in a much smaller area than what my DH is set to clientside
And im not seeing any new lods being generated
or maybe im misunderstanding the premise. My understanding is that DH will slowly generate the chunks requested by the client and send the LODs back
Can you make a separate thread? I'll answer in the morning if no-one else has by then, I'm going to bed now.
sure thing, thanks
