Bread
BreadOP3w ago
1 inch longer in the black
artvandelayimporting
Alr well if it matters to you you can have it shortened but it doesn’t look bad at all If it were me I’d just leave it at the sleeves and pants
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Ok I’ll keep lenght Cost is a matter too Pant seat is a little loose? I think that’s jsut the cut tho
artvandelayimporting
How do the pants fit at the waist
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Perfect
artvandelayimporting
Aight then I wouldn’t worry about it
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
They jsut are a bit drapey
artvandelayimporting
Drape is good
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Ok cool So it’s a good fit?
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
I’ll get it cleaned and tailored then
artvandelayimporting
:letsfuckinggo:
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
I can’t get tailoring until this weekend but my dad is going to the cleaners tommorow anyway so I’ll have him drop it off And then tailor after It smells so strong of whatever perfume or scent And there was a crying tissue in the pocket :nooooo: I hate that I have to wear black ngl, it is not good looking on me
artvandelayimporting
It’ll be okay No one’s gonna be looking at you anyway

Looks good! With correct lenght pants will fit even better
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
For the next suit I buy Would you change anything on the fit
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
make a new thread the next time you want to buy a suit read through your threads again too. a lot of people gave very helpful advice on what to look for in a suit that may help you to be self-sufficient *or more self-sufficient, in any case
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Well I’m saying based on this suit
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
from the pictures you've provided it looks like a good fit once you alter the sleeve and pants lengths a lot of "how should the suit fit" is based on personal preference (how close to the body do you want it) or the construction of the suit itself (do you want the suit to be more relaxed looking or structured looking, do you want a bigger or smaller lapel, do you want a higher or lower buttoning point, etc.) for your needs in this moment, the suit you have is fine once the sleeves and pants hems are adjusted to your taste
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
What about that small divot in the shoulder Is that normal?
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
the divot is due to how wide and high the armhole of the sleeve (at the shoulder end) was cut.
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Does it look bad? Or not correct?
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
a minor amount of shoulder denting is common especially on a secondhand suit it is in my humble opinion fine; keep in mind the divot will also occur whenever you move your arms up and down so it's unavoidable
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Does it mean the shoulder is a bit too big?
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
fixing it is time consuming and costly because a tailor will have to remove the sleeve, cut away some of the excess length of the sleeve cap and yet also add width to the sleeve cap to smooth put the opening at where the sleeve and shoulder seam meet
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Oh I’m not looking to fix it., just wondering For knowledge sake
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
it is almost certainly the armhole not being cut for your exact body not correlated to how wide the shoulder (alone) is, unless the entire jacket is too wide for you
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
I mean does it look too wide?
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
no
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Ok
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
If the entire jacket were too wide there are other indicators of this, such as a gap between your chest and the jacket itself, or a slight peak before the shoulder seam from where your actual shoulder bone is
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
There’s a hole in the pants Fuck And also seems to have some fiberglass or something on it cuz my hands are mega itchy I think I’m going to return it
artvandelayimporting
What day is the wedding
jawntanamo_bae
Get it repaired by the tailor?
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Not worth it to repair it 3 weeks I found another one on eBay I can order maybe
artvandelayimporting
How big is the hole

anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
come ONNNNN man
artvandelayimporting
It’s worth repairing They probably did not see the hole because it’s microscopic
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Easy to see for me Also it’s got itch powder or something in it Fiberglsss
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
Probably the perfumed cleaning stuff they used you might be allergic to it
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Idk it doesn’t seem like this is worth it
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
Come on man how would fiberglass be on a suit
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Idk? I felt it in my hands Little pricks Pin pricks
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago

awz5082
awz50823w ago

zeometer
zeometer3w ago
lint roller on the suit if you're concerned about fiberglass before drycleaning
pinkkea
pinkkea3w ago
dawg if i were your sister i'd be sooooooooo something something
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
I can’t get the smell out of my head
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
a dry cleaner should be able to fix the hole in addition to the cleaning you would want to do anyway
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
probably stressed with wedding planning
awz5082
awz50823w ago
dry cleaning gets the smell out lmao
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
just dry clean it dude And tell them you found some shit in it that you’re allergic to so please get rid of it
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Yeah but the hole has to be fixed too
zeometer

Bread
BreadOP3w ago
I’m returning it anyway.. I’m not happy spending this much money for something damaged Very upset about It
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
The tailor or dry cleaner can fix the hole for an extra tenner I bet
awz5082
awz50823w ago
no ones going to notice a tiny hole and the dry cleaner can patch the hole
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
okay real talk
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
how much did you spend on this suit
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
150
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
i think this may have all been just a gambit to buy a different suit and that this is anxiety not in good faith if that is not the case my sincere apologies but otherwise good luck
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
What do you mean
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
He’s saying you’re looking for excuses to buy a different suit
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Trust me I don’t want to But if that’s what needs to be done I don’t have a choice

the timing of it after asking all the questions about suiting is questionable
awz5082
awz50823w ago
dont buy secondhand if you're not willing to deal with this stuff
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
dude you got a suit for 150 how were you possibly expecting perfection
artvandelayimporting
Where on the pants is the hole
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
you know what here's the deal
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
150 is nothing for a passable suit
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
get a loan for 2 grand
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Right below the knee
jawntanamo_bae
You can’t spend less money on a suit than it costs for a meal at a nice restaurant and then complain it’s not perfect
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
buy a suit from brooks got a tailor and tell them "i need this to fit perfect in two werks" they will know what to do you will pay this tailor
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
I jsut went to pack it up for dry cleaner and found the hole
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
h/t sam
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
you will get a suit to your liking in two weeks and have enough money for a beer after
Weeg
Weeg3w ago
Bread you can have a cheap suit or a perfect suit you just cant get both. You have a deadline. Roll with the punches and get your new suit cleaned and tailored.
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
there is no other choice
artvandelayimporting
Genuinely such an easy fix dawg. You only have three weeks left and you still need alterations done. You shouldnt waste time looking for another suit when this one already fits you great
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
literally no other choice
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
Yeah what’s the point in taking more shots on eBay seriously
awz5082
awz50823w ago
you're going to pay more for a rush alteration than to repair that tiny hole and get it dry cleaned
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
How easy is it to fix a hole. Will it look good? Expensive?
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
for something that is NOT YOUR WEDDING
artvandelayimporting
I guarantee you you could even not fix the hole and no one would notife
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
It’s a fucking tiny pinhole under the knee man
artvandelayimporting
That small a hole will take any good tailor 5 minutes to patch and incur MAYBE a $10 charge
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
They’ll throw some thread there so wind doesn’t go down it and make your leg cold and no one will notice
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
I thought it was a much bigger deal
artvandelayimporting
No dude It’s so small
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
you are making it a bigger deal for whatever reason
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
like 15 ppl just said a normal tailor or dry cleaner will do it for cheap
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
hence the "take the night off" remark
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
it will not add any time and will cost you a tenner
carrion
carrion3w ago
U can literally have them fix it when u drop it for cleaning
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
$15 if the place is robbing you
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
this is something that you've spent a good amount of time and stress over i imagine any sort of possible quirk is magnified tenfold
artvandelayimporting
Bread the suit looks great bud
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
trust me on this, the suit is fine
artvandelayimporting
Drycleaning will get rid of the smell
jawntanamo_bae
Honestly many dry cleaners do fine alterations too, he can probably get the sleeves and pants hemmed there too
artvandelayimporting
And you can absolutely have the hole fixed when they do the alteration
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
get it dry cleaned, get the dry cleaner to fix the hole, and then get someone to fix the sleeves and pant hems
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
If you’re worried about the powder then just make sure you tell them about it Even tho they’ll like Hit it with a lint roller lmao
artvandelayimporting
But deadass if you start the whole process over again and start looking for another suit you WILL NOT have one that fits in time for the wedding
jawntanamo_bae
My dry cleaner uses one of those lil handheld vacuums
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
Also you will probably get yourself and at least 5 server members banned
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Ok
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
Yeah something like that
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
lint roller is probably the polite thing to do if he suspects actual fiberglass, that way it won't spread into the dry cleaners equipment
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
I will keep it
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
you are not required to do this
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
But I’m not happy
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
but just take a breath
anasthesia-
anasthesia-3w ago
Yeah I’d take a pass with a lint roller anyway to see if it fixes it
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Sorry I have a lot of anxiety
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
understandable
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
I apologize
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
you are being given tangible things to do, and that's probably the best remedy, at least to me i apologize for saying you were intentionally overreacting or interested in learning to justify another suit purchase
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
I was not I don’t have the money for that
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
of course dry cleaning, fixing the hole, and getting the sleeves/pants taken up shouldn't be too expensive
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
And u sure the smell will be completely gone?
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
should be smooth sailing
Bread
BreadOP3w ago
Ok I hope so
zeometer
zeometer3w ago
in the very unlikely event it isn't, get your money back and go somewhere else. but you are let's say 99% fine
Bread
BreadOP2w ago
The cleaner said the smell won’t come out And the hole can’t be fixed

remember this. the suit you have is better than having no suit at all, even at its current state. try a different cleaner.
Bread
BreadOP2w ago
I’m allergic to the smell tbh Made me sick
Holfram
Holfram2w ago
Yeah bread if you’re doing this you’re cooked. So return the suit if you so please but there won’t be any last minute saved by the bell type fixes.
rawburt-oh
rawburt-oh2w ago
Bread you have a suit in hand that fits you fine Option 1 is to go get a second opinion from another cleaner. In most US cities this is maybe another 5-10 min drive and 5 mins talking to the owner Option 2 is restart the process altogether, spend time finding a suit, risking it not fitting right/smelling funny/etc and risking not having a suit for your sister's wedding The sensible thing is at least getting a second opinion, but do what you feel like
Holfram
Holfram2w ago
Can’t believe a cleaner would tell you that hole can’t be fixed. I could fix that fucking hole
rawburt-oh
rawburt-oh2w ago
When you talk to the cleaner, be calm and just ask what they think is possible. If you're making a big deal out of the smell to them they probably won't want to touch the business because they don't think they will be able to make you happy
NotDisliked

pumaturtle2w ago
Hang the suit up in your bathroom while you shower and steam it out. It should get most of the smell out.
Bread
BreadOP2w ago
Ima find a new cleaner Yeah good idea It actually smells far less today that’s it’s been out. I think something was in the bag Cuz there’s also a feel to the fabric Like some sort of coating Maybe something was in the bag The man said the hole could be patched but you would “notice it” I really didn’t understand much, not English speaking native so I think it was confusing
pumaturtle
pumaturtle2w ago
Steam it out
Bread
BreadOP2w ago
I’ve aired out the suit for a while and the scent is barely perceivable now I honestly think they sprayed something in the packaging But why tf would they do that I’m still convinced there is Fiberglass tho
zeometer
zeometer2w ago
if you have a lint roller, run it all over the suit before taking it to a dry cleaner
Bread
BreadOP2w ago
I will
max
max2w ago
I haven’t kept up but if the suit irritates your skin just wear long underwear Sorry if that’s been said already I kind of get it because I have to actively remind myself not be overly anxious or obsessive about my clothes. I get tailoring is different than the more rugged stuff I wear day to day in that there’s not really an element of “wabi-sabi” like with rugged wear but idk at this point i would think about it like a $150 gift for your sister rather than a suit for yourself. It is totally passable and it’s worth $150+whatever you spend on a suit in the future to have peace of mind rn. Not to go on a tangent too much, butI kind of do the same thing when I buy local. It’s often more expensive than coupon hunting or forwarding via from Japan or something, but I personally think it’s sort of worth it to alleviate the anxiety of stuff fitting right, as someone who kind of relates to your experience to some extent. Tldr this level of anxiety is worth spending $150 on a suit to put to rest, even if it’s something you wear like 3 times ever
zeometer
zeometer2w ago
it's also maybe not just about the suit but about everything else around it - your sister is getting married, your family is expanding, etc given the circumstances you are presently in, you're doing all the right things imo - lint roller, dry cleaner, tailor

similar to yours and other's past remarks on that suit it's too small imo and i do not think there's enough fabric to move the button to for it to be able to fit
Bread
BreadOP2w ago
I think the other suit is too big The black one
max
max2w ago
yeah the $150 one you got looks better
Bread
BreadOP2w ago
Really
max
max2w ago
yeah most of whats "wrong" with the $150 suit can be fixed via alterations the one you got from your closet is pulling at the front you have a better fitting suit in your possession now. imo front pulling is one of the worst looking usual suspects in wrong sizing like if the wedding was tomorrow, i would safety pin an inside cuff on the trousers of the $150 suit and put up with the sleeves before wearing a jacket thats too tight mayybe even inside cuff on the sleeve. thats a semicursed solution but my point is front pull bad thats not actual advice, more just a comparison knowing time is of the essence or whatever i also mentioned this above but this back and forth is not worth getting back $150
rawburt-oh
rawburt-oh2w ago
Bread if I were you I would take the black suit to a tailor today to get it altered, and let them know you have a deadline at least a few days in advance of the wedding

Don't wait for other suits to appear from your closet and don't look for other suits online The black suit fits you well and looks good, just needs a few very minor and common alterations
max
max2w ago
you have 3 weeks right ive had some stuff altered before and it look like 2 weeks. however idk where you live, maybe more people are getting stuff altered there
Bread
BreadOP2w ago
Alright
rawburt-oh
rawburt-oh2w ago
Go today to a tailor Do the thing Let them know your deadline They are simple alterations and ask if they can turn it around in time
max
max2w ago
Or call all nearby tailors
rawburt-oh
rawburt-oh2w ago
I've had similar alterations done in way less time but you just want to make your expectations explicit - some shops are much slower than others or have a backlog of work
