Alden 683 Loafers - Aberdeen Last Sizing

Follow up on my secondhand loafers thread https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1318677465878499349 from last week. I think I found a pretty great deal (https://www.ebay.com/itm/186836238220?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ZSq2UuQpRZi&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=-e2XcU0hR7m&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) on a pair. The seller has offered me $150 - they look in great condition. Not sure if I’m missing something that is leading to this price, but looks like a bulk reseller who is trying to get them out the door I’m out of the country right now, but was planning to head to an Alden store to check out my sizes in various lasts, but don’t really want to miss out. I wear a 10.5D in Allen Edmonds Randolph Loafers & various oxfords - does anyone have an idea on sizing relative to the Aberdeen last? Research says true to size. Thanks in advance!

Alden is basically always tts or .5 down relative to your brannock size I wouldn’t worry much about missing out tho, unless you really want this exact model. Aldens (and loafers especially) can get scooped up for <$200 with a little bit of patience, and I think their tassels and LHS models are much better and much more common than full straps.

Great condition it looks like. Full strap loafers are cool imo just not a super popular model. I think they’re fun bc they’re easier to dress up and the really low vamp makes for a great big pant dainty shoe vibe which I really like. I think they’re more difficult to dress down (dependent on your style ofc) compared to LHS or Copley last tassel loafers (those models are chunkier) but nothing wrong with these. Just about what you like and how you want to wear them

That’s helpful context - I’m likely looking at wearing these in mostly an office work setting. Dress code is incredibly loose in both directions, nothing really out of place so I think I’ll be able to get use out of them Generally just trying to build out my shoe collection through secondhand purchases - the seller dropped them to $120 so just went ahead and went for it. Worst case scenario down the road is if I’m not using them / able to get them to work in fits, I could probably resell and recoup most the cost
