game crash + several questions regarding DH
https://mclo.gs/GjXOSoY
Game just crashed.
Also I have several questions regarding DH.
I was in a single player world when the error occured, but I was wondering about Multiplayer through e4mc + world host instead of using a server.
I am using the newest nightly build for DH for 1.20.1, because that's the only multiplayer one that works supposedly.
Could someone tell me if I generate chunks and my friend joins my server will he get those chunks aswell? And what if he generates chunks? Do I get those chunks automatically aswell? But at the end of the day its my singleplayer world?
Also I was wondering about DH and minecraft settings. Do I wanna up the render distance when I am making a new world to generate a lot of chunks?
And then what settings do I wanna use once I start playing regarding render distance and such?

Do I just wanna allocate more RAM to get rid of the error?

I got 8 of 32 GB allocated
Could also be related to TACZ it seems?
Nevermind that can't be it:

seems to be a common issue for people between tacz + DH that they get the error i get:
"Failed to resize buffer from 2146435072 bytes to -2146435072 bytes"
but the guy in the video for example had no issues
ah it seems to be bliss or photon
I'll try newest version of Bliss because the stuff in the video seems to work fine.
If not I will see if a different shader fixes the issue.
It seems to be unrelated to Distant Horizons. But it's TACZ + specific shaders.

Found a solution for this! Someone else could still answer the other questions I have tho, please? (:
Also does someone know what translucent entities are in minecraft?
oh i see

is this intended?
@Miki_P98 hope its okay to ping as usual 🤓
also as of now I cannot tell with TRANSLUCENT_ENTITIES=false
that the glass or ice looks any different
Also I wanna say after testing a total of 23 shaders, the only 2 good shaders (like most of the community agrees with I believe) is just Bliss or Photon. They are so good compared to the rest.
Alright photon causes memory leak and crashes the game.
Bliss with that specific setting changed works. (:
I just dunno if this is normal and need to know how the multiplayer works with DH.
This crash is happening in sodium
Known issue on sodium’s end with latest sodium
I fixed it by adding the TRANSLUCENT_ENTITIES=false line to bliss
can i grab a earlier version in sodium to fix it?
also do u know how DH works with e4mc and world host?
and also what settings i want for chunk generation and then what settings i want afterwards aswell?
also im confused because i was told the issue stems from tacz + iris
You’d have to ask in the Sodium discord, I don’t know.
No idea what e4mc is, so no
I was able to reproduce the issue with just sodium, Iris, and DH. I’ve never heard of tacz so I assume it’s unrelated.
Same as if you're opening a LAN world. It will work like you're in singleplayer for the host, and it'll work like you're in multiplayer for everyone else
So they'll have to explore chunks to generate them
oh so chunks are not shared at all?
Correct, unless you're using the nightly builds
I am using the nightly build!
So in that all chunks are shared? If my friend gets new ones I get them aswell? And if I get new ones he gets them? Does it get updated live as we play?
also @Miki_P98 i fixed the memory leak by adding the translucent entities = false
to bliss
yes, if you both have the nighly
ok cool
so my friend uploads as we plat
and so do i?
and the other downloads
constantly?
i think so yea. i forgot the details
do you have any setting recommendations when i create world
like do i wanna increase render distance for DH or normal? and then after i generated a lot of chunks do i change back to default?
or what do i even wanna use for default settings when playing normally
and should me and my friend instantly start playing or should i generate first
The only things you should really change are the quality preset and cpu load. The quality preset for how much your pc can handle. And the cpu load for how much fps you want to sacrifice to speed up world generation
That depends on if you want to wait or not
and how much chunks do i even wanna set tho?
i think default is 150?
Depends on how long you want to wait
i mean how much do u play with
how much distance
also i have i7700k and 1070
can u give recommended settings
also how much ram?
i got 32
is 8 enough for game?
1024 most of the time. But I play on servers so that doesn't really count as I can't do distant generation.
Try 12
Try and see. If it doesn't run well, turn the settings down
oki
I would say it depends on your worldgen and feel you want to get + how long you want to wait
E.G. Tectonic + Terralith is great worldgen, but it lack big oceans, if you want any ocean like feeling from them you shouldn't go past RD of 128, I don't care that much and play with 320, though I won't go past 512
With Big Globe or RTF you can go much higher, but over 1024 the benefit will be really small, the generation time will be horrendous and even for those truly massive worldgen there is a point you will see the other side of oceans and start to see the noise from the generator
