V4 idex z offset issue
Hello,
I need some advise. Im getting terrible z offset cal, between 0.17 and 0.175. I have checked everything and disassembled both heads, twice. Also swapped nozzle, because why not.
I havent done what ratrig suggested, to use a shim as a last resort. But as far as i understand, this is only important if i use copy/mirror mode correct? For dual filament its ok? I dont think ill ever use copy/mirror mode. Should i bother to make it close to 0 as possible? What are the downsides of using a shim as a spacer?

make the nozzle retightening thing again, but with hot hotends
Really? Even with such a big z offset value?
you always need to tighten nozzles with a hot hotend
thats how it works
I mean, its almost a height of an entire layer
its called hot tightening
Ok i was not aware of that
So i remove th nozzles
And than tighten them while its hot?
But nozzles are cold
yes, heat both hotends to 250° and then redo it
Ok
Ill report back
still no good
tro to tighten the 3 screws that hold the heater to the heatsink
maybe its more loose on one of the hotends
i did that
i disassembled both and assembled back again
yesterday
t0 needs to go up correct?
i can try to tighten everything again on t0
cant get any better without something as a spacer
this is only important for copy and mirror mode right? for dual filament has no impact correct?
correct
Ill leave it as is. I want idex for dual filament. If i ever need copy/mirror mode ill think about it then
Thanks again for the tips
I had an similar offset on mine, the only thing that helped was to change the nozzle extender between the hotends. Did you try this or are you using volcanos? I changed from over 0.1 like yours to 0.04.
I did change the nozzle extender, and also the nozzles. Same results
I discovered now that i have the gantry on an angle because bed mesh is twisted. The idex commissioning should cover all the steps but it doesnt
Not sure if it could have an impact on z offset but i dont think so
Now i need to make it as flat as possible and than ill try again
Yeah this with the commissioning guide is a little bit confusing, you should start with the normal and switch then to the idex at the right point. I think it's not completely done but will be fixed in short time.
Hmm i think this will not have such a big effect. I had measure the extender and the nozzles and find a little difference to each other so I could fixed it. I hope you'll find the issue.
I started with the idex commissioning. And because in no step it sais to assemble the heat and pei sheet, i decided to do it. I dont think my bed is defective, but i really do hope not now that i have everything glued. Honestly it looks like the gantry is out of plane. I havent had the time 2day, hopefully 2morrow
