🌊 Water Reflections Loaded at Inaccurate Distances.

Hello! I'll try to keep it short. Chunks loaded using Distant Horizon display reflections of nearby objects even though the chunks are much further away, If I find a fix I will delete this post myself. Things don't seem so bad shown on the image but once you start moving and jumping it starts to really become evident! I really do appreciate anyone willing to lend a helping hand, cheers! I'm using fabric, I have no error message or an idea of where I can get the logs detailing which functions distant horizon is executing. ..😅 I'd doubt so I believe there's some sort of an issue in communication between Distant Horizons and the shader pack.. I disabled transparency in distant horizons which removed the reflections in distance but made the water look really blue in comparison to normal render distance.

Distant Horizons does not add reflections Shaders add reflections If you don’t think this is a shader issue it can be an Iris one But it is common for shaders to do reflections in this way, don’t ask me why

here's my guess (and solution!): In complementary shaders performance settings, there are 3 modes for reflections. Off, flipped image, and raymarching. Flipped image mode creates these issues. You should change the reflection type to raymarching (for slightly decreased performance) or just disable it entirely if you want to fix the issue.

Well, you'd think so but this issue is happening ONLY in chunks loaded by distant horizons and none other. I'll give it a shot and see what goes.

I have disabling it would just outright disable reflections, any form of water reflections would cause the thing to start happening again, and the only thing which would partially have a significant change would be setting transparency to off (option shown in this image) which is a setting given by distant horizons

I'm just dumbfounded that it only happens to chunks loaded using distant horizons, anything within the shader's/vanilla rendering distance doesn't share this issue.

Whichever method it's using, it's malfunctioning in combination with DH, it can be seen that the chunks before don't share similar issues.

no, the shader is using a certain method for reflections on dh chunks called screenspace reflections i think so thats why it looks like that

DH chunks get flipped reflections, everything else gets screenspace reflections.

I'm searching for a way to disable that or fix the issue, rn I use render distance 32 with dh, but when using normal Minecraft for render distance 32 it doesn't happen. I'm not really educated when it comes to making Minecraft shaders so I wouldn't know how to fix this myself without any instructions. I need dh for performance reasons, I can't just disable transparency in dh options because that makes the water discolored

Just adding on to this convo - I am also having the issue with DH and transparency being enabled. Fixable by disabling transparency but then the water LODs mismatch the shaderpack and it's pretty jarring.

if i get far away enough, it resolves it. from what I understand this is a sodium issue. I am on latest DH for 1.20.1 - does anyone have a better experience downgrading versions?
