Bed Mesh, Beacon and Bed Issue

Hello! Some background: I received my VC4-500 kit with one of the bed posts not drilled properly. Talked to the folks at RatRig on discord and they asked me to see if I’d be able to drill it through the rest of the way (it was somehow egg shaped) then run a bed mesh without sticking on the bed heater or plate magnet. (I’m not comfortable with where the balls sit in the POM holders but that’s me) They said they’ll replace the bed if it’s a bad mesh. Talking with them through email took 2 days for for the first response so I’m hoping someone here can help. I need to run a bed mesh but with the beacon probe I cannot home Z without a Beacon profile. To create one I ran the Beacon_RatOs_Calibrate but it wants to heat the bed up to around 80c. I haven’t connected the AC wiring to allow for it to heat up so it errors out when I get to that part. Yesterday I was referred to follow the bed hookup in the guide https://ratrig.dozuki.com/Guide/12.+Electronics/250#s2571 but my question is how can I run the bed mesh without a beacon profile being created because it cannot heat up. New to Beacon and RatOs if anyone can help I’d greatly appreciate it. Also sorry for the run ons and terrible grammar.

This guide is still in progress, as more detailed instructions on how to prepare all wires will be added in the next few days.

https://docs.ratrig.com/commissioning-guides/v-core-4 The command you need is BEACON_INITITIAL_CALIBRATION

No, worries. the build is stressful, you miss things. Remember, slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

The first bed mesh I ran I should have screenshotted but didn't think about it until after I made the first adjustment but I had a greater than 0.7 range. The second was 0.483 and the third was 0.348. The front left bedpost naturally sits all the way to the edge after I had to drill the hole through to get the screw in at all. I didn't notice until someone I know pointed it out but it looks like the ball is digging into the bed mount. Do you @RatMonkey or anyone else think there's something that can be done with this or should I ask Ratrig to replace the bed? I don't really mind sending the old one back so they can see what's wrong, I just want to get mine up and running.

0.348 isn't terrible for a 500 and some of it could be caused by the gantry sagging down but that mount doesn't look great. It's a close call and you might be able to straighten up the mounts.

With it that far out of straight you should be able to see it with a straightedge. But since it is so even throughout the bed it looks to me more like the X gantry is in an arch shape
