x & y offset in middle of print?

Hey. After the machine setup i wanted to get going with printing. First i made a few flat tests to get the z-offset right. After that i wanted to get going with printing my own designs. However, it seems that i get some kind of offset problems after the first layer is set. I have provided a video for you to see. Why is it good the first layer and not the others?

Could it be something with the slicing?

layer shift, mechanical issues check your motion system check your motor pulleys or decreae your travel acceleration check if you have activated the performance mode

layer shift - Not sure how to check that. mechanical issues - Could be because i had the homing going down the bed one time and dragging along x axis until i hit emergency stop. But wouldn't the first layer also be fault i wonder? check your motion system - Not sure how to check that. check your motor pulleys - The Bondtech feeder is working without problem. or decreae your travel acceleration - It does not explain the offset. check if you have activated the performance mode - Not sure how to check that.

no, first layer is printed much slower than the other layers
The Bondtech feeder is working without problem.
the gears on your motros ahfts, check if they are fix
or decreae your travel acceleration - It does not explain the offset.
it can explain it, if its too high it causes layer shift if you have mechanical issues
check if you have activated the performance mode - Not sure how to check that.

I think the belt has been tensioned too hard. So i have eased it up alot. However, now i am encountering another problem. I cannot Save Z-Offset properly. I does not matter what Z-Offset i save because it does not end up being the Z-Offset that i have saved. Is this a common problem?

Also, the Save Config button does not appear when i hit the Z Offset anymore.

i. dont know what you want to show me with this if its bc of the acceleration then i was talking about your slicer settings of course

The picture describes my issue with the firmware. I have moved the toolhead to 14,000 (just to demostrate) in Z and then pressed Save Z Offset. But the Console is printing out "Nothing to do: Z Offset is 0**".

please make for the z offset a new thread, things are getting mixed otherwise

After the z-probing my flat test print is successfully printed. So i thought i would test the printer with another simple model. A simple tube with fillets at the top. But as the picture describes, the "layer shift" is still happening but at about half the print. I have about 50% infill on this model, would that make the layer shift happening, i dont know.

After further investigation of the print i can determin that x axis is good. It is the Y axis that is offset. Can i adjust the belt for the Y axis aswell?

Erik_OP•3w ago
I have tried to adjust the belts again. I have new results. It seems to be a layer shift in the beginning, then it is straight for a good part and then it layer shifts greatly in the end.

My best guess is that something was broken when the toolhead went down the bed and draging it along the x axis. Question is what broke? What is most likley to brake in that scenario?

grab the hotend (while cool) and make sure it doesn't wobble. That should help guide you to whatever is loose. Good luck!

It does wobble! What should i do about it?
TheTik
TheTik•3w ago
Tighten whatever is loose
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
The hotend is bent

@TheTik Hey. I am about to test the machine again. But first i am running the setup. I have encountered a problem when using the Z-TILT function. I have attached a picture for you to see. First used the home function and then i presed the Z-TILT. Is the bed not even from the homing?

That message is saying that it tried to move the bed up into the head but after moving the entire z distance as set in the config, it still never triggered the probe If you've successfully homed, that seems odd.

Perhaps i have to delete the old printer.cfg and make a new setup?
TheTik
TheTik•3w ago
I don't know what all you've changed since you last ran the configurator. That bent hotend looks fucked 😄
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
:). Yea i deleted all the previouse configs and ran a new setup. Now Z-TILT is working again.

Question. I am doing a heightmap calibration. But i get this message when hitting the save config button.

Still problem with offset..

It must be a firmware / soft issue? Or is the sensor reading wrong cordinates so that the system thinks it is at the right place but it is not?
TheTik
TheTik•3w ago
What is that terrible rattling noise?
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
It is not suppose to sound like that? Not sure what to do mate What i can tell is that is only offsetting in Y axis So, that's a clue atleast. So the probe sensor should be fine it can read x axis correct i suppose?
TheTik
TheTik•3w ago
probe has nothing to do with x axis
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
Ok. I am just guessing. There must be some system that reads its position i assume. Its so wierd. It creates the first layer perfectly but not the following layers.
TheTik
TheTik•3w ago
nope, there is nothing that reads its position It homes off the edge against the endstop so it knows where "zero" is. From there it is sending messages to the motor to turn a specific amount and relies on the motor doing so. If the motor stalls, belt slips, anything like that, then where the head is and where the computer thinks it is are no longer the same.
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
So the motor is bad perhaps?
TheTik
TheTik•3w ago
or belt tension is too high, or you've got some wiring issue...the list goes on
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
How much should the belt be tensioned?
TheTik
TheTik•3w ago
Just enough that it doesn't slip off the motor pulley
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
Okay, so pretty loose then but not as loose as they would fall off the pulley. I can try to loosen them up i suppose
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
I have loosened up the belts. Sound less ratling but the offset i still there
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
My best guess is that the motor is malfunctioning.

accelerations seem high for just trying to get printing to work
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
I use 90% speed
TheTik
TheTik•3w ago
90% of too high could still be too high
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
I dont know. It feels like it should be able to print at a decent speed.
TheTik
TheTik•3w ago
Sure, but only if everything is tuned. Gotta get it working before you speed it up
Erik_
Erik_OP•3w ago
I am printing at 25% speed now and it is still not perfect.
