Most 100% wool pleated trousers will likely be warm enough
Lately I have been really really enjoying corduroy for the cold weather
i think i just need to set time to poke around thrifting a bit
i def don't need like 200 dollar pants lmao
but i feel like window shopping anyways
corduroy is the move.
J Crew has had some really great cords lately, bought 2 pairs and the build quality is high and they are so comfy
Corduroy is the oatmeal cookie of pants
overshadowed by the chocolate chip cookie that is jeans
you lose a lot of drape with heavier wool so ig there's that whole debacle
like tweed would be thick as fuck but it's incredibly structured
long johns
think he said he didn't want to layer thermals underneath earlier
i didn’t read
nah wasn't in this thread lol
you're good
Flannel lined jeans can be a real treat
im a wool agreer
I was just goting to say wool is the GOAT, but that's actually cashmere lol
vehemently going to disagree with this
respectfully
cashmere would make horrible pleats
way too soft of a wool to not come out looking puffy
a thicker gabardine would prob work
I can respect that, because they CAN be good, but they can also be bad too
wool drape wins, and tbh chords have great fall vibes, but the fabric itself isnt all that warm
Oh my joke here was that cashmere comes from goats not sheeo
my bad
I would suggest to get some high quality Wool Trousers. You can find used ones relatively cheap on Vestiaire Collective, Ebay and sometimes even in your local vintage shops (depending on where you live). Good brands to search for are: Burberry, YSL, Loro Piana, Ralph Lauren, Giorgio Armani. I often stumble across some really affordable cashmere stuff from Burberry (50€ for pants in very good condition).
If you really want to get the most for your money, consider setting up filter lists and notifications and then lowball the sellers. Especially with older pants (older in means of date of production and not of how much it has been worn), I have often managed to get some hefty discounts from them.
leather pants also rock thats my hot take
There's also a LOT of really good wool military surplus trousers from various militaries
If you live in a really cold area, then it's really likely that you will more than just Wool pants in order to feel really warm and comfortable. I would suggest you to get atleast one or two pieces of thermal underwear / baselayers for the colder days. One day you it will get colder than you might expect it to be and then you will be glad that you have bought them. They are also not expensive either. You can probably find ones for a really low price in military surplus stores, atleast that is the case here in Europe.
Milsurp quilted liner pants
Don't lowball c'mon man
lol
@eggtart! Where do you live? How cold is it? I'd look for wool flannel trousers. Wool flannel is pretty thick and warm, and you can find old pleated polo ralph lauren wool flannel trousers secondhand pretty easily on eBay.
im in nyc
Oh so am I
Yeah it was freezing today
real talk im just stupid and sold my uniqlo lined sweatpants bc i didn't like the sihloutte anymore
except that's how i've gone through the last like 2-3 winters lmao
so all of a sudden im like wait wow lol
Honestly in this weather though I just wear cotton pants or jeans and a big coat and it's fine.
But my coats go down to my ankles lol.
im not like
freezing
like i just throw on heat tech
but yeah i just don't like the sensory
first world problem
No that makes sense
unfortunately those wool pants i got from my proxy earlier this year is like
4 inches too short
it hikes up past my crew socks if i sit down
those were supoosed to be my winter beaters
My friend owns these and they felt thick and warm: https://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=513217012&vid=1&tid=brns000051#pdp-page-content. But the fabric composition is bad so I don't know if I'd recommend them. Still, I'd look for pants similar to this but 100% wool.

If you like Sweatpants, I can suggest you Vollebak. They have pants called 100 Year Sweatpants. These have 3 layers and are extremely warm and the outer layer is even fire proof to some extent. They are extremely warm, especially the first version, and are made to withstand heavy rain and snow. Their quality is outstanding and I believe that these may be a bit overkill though.
Their original price is around 500 - 600€ depending on the version but Vollebak currently has lots of discounts. You can probably get them for around 80 - 110€ depending on the version. They are currently destocking and planning to become more of a mainstream brand, which is why everything is so cheap now.
Here you can see their Email newsletter: https://milled.com/vollebak
They had such incredible discounts weekly.
Which one did you get?

Dang slim fit
Theres a straight fit but looks like its low rise
But $40 is such a steal
I love slim fit because I am finally slim after being thick for a long time
I don't really like the stovepipe jeans that are really popular now
I'm sorry to disagree so vehemently but I'm not sure why someone living in NYC would pay so much for sweatpants with such an insane fabric composition and whose main selling point seems to be that they are fire and abrasion resistant?
You're paying a premium for fabric that is blended with fire resistant modacrylic and aramid and that is doubly coated to make them abrasion resistant. That's ridiculously overkill for almost anybody who isn't literally a firefighter.
You'd be much better off buying a nice pair of heritage cotton sweatpants.
Wythe New York
Donegal Corduroy Five Pocket Pants - Rolling Sand
This stunning "donegal" corduroy comes from one of our favorite mills in Italy which specializes in weaving only corduroys and velvets. They've been weaving corduroy since the late 1800s, and still have a stream running through the mill which they use to wash and clean the cotton. An exclusive fabric to Wythe, the done
If I wore this kind of thing I would have bought one of these pairs. I felt them at the Wythe store and they're beautiful. Super thick cords.
Oh yeah thats gooood
they're sweet. worth the price imo.
Corduroy is a type of weave right? And doesnt imply a specific mayerial?
Yeah you can make it out of all sorts of things but it's usually cotton.
Or wool sometimes.
its usually cotton, but they weave it with the texture
It'd be better to buy secondhand wool trousers but if you have to buy new, GAP puts these wool blend flannels out under different names every year and they're pretty warm and comfortable https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=604363012&cid=80799&pcid=80799&vid=1&cpos=8&cexp=2859&kcid=CategoryIDs%3D80799&ctype=Listing&cpid=res24120122487639805994760&ccam=40724#pdp-page-content
