very trippy toggling dh on an off did not help disabling vanilla fade mode got rid of it but now water looks bad

Yes, but the transition is supposed to be smooth, so in front of that DH LOD chunk should be another LOD chunk that covers the underground of the one you see and which's grass blends with vanilla in a way that does not create a pillar rendring in from of vanilla

That is quite odd. And it doesn't fix itself if you restart Minecraft? Are you sure? Doesn't look like that to me Are you running any other mods? If yes, can you try with just dh?

After the fading distance it is normal that LOD shows on top of vanilla

I think so, that is why the perceived vanilla RD is much larger when blending is disabled, after the blending distance there is full overdraw

https://discord.com/channels/881614130614767666/1301176040831455273 I made a bug report about this, it fixes itself if you give it time to generate more LODs It happens when there arent any LODs in the real to LOD transition area from what I can gather
