Question
Hey I was wondering how does distant horizon work does it use ram or what since I’m running modded and it’s a bit laggy already but don’t wanna make it even more laggier since I’m pretty limited on ram usage thanks!

It does need some extra ram yes
Ty
@Yeshi your server is down
I was trying to open this but yeah
It’s not working
use the http version
Isn’t that http
?
yep that works
What does this do
tell you the amount of ram to use
put in the amount of ram you have and youll see
do this on the device you're playing minecraft from
maybe i should just have a second field for the core count instead of getting it automatically to prevent issues when using the site from a secondary device
tragic
i dont think ill be able to run it
im using 5 already
try lowering cpu load or turning off distant generation in dh's settings if its not working right with 6 gb allocated
i need to get more ram into my laptop
if your laptop only has 8 gb of ram, you probably need to replace the whole laptop for a meaningful impact
the laptop isnt bad
because it probably has a quite old cpu and gpu
js ram issues
ryzen 5
what are the specs?
and like a 2050 or sum
which is old
runs most games fine
huh, that with 8 gb?
yea
that is strange
it was 400 brand new
im not gonna complain
my mother's 10th gen intel laptop came with 8gb too
the only thing bottle necking it is mainly ram
it has slots for 2 sticks im pretty sure
i would fix it but my only issue is idk how to put in ram
and uhh im scared to open it up
so i might see if i cang get a pc shop to do it for me
since its not to hard right?
if its not too hard, why let a pc shop do it for you?
as long as you dont break anything, its quite hard to mess up
a lot of laptops are built to prevent user repair as much as possible, highly depends what model you have
since me dont trust myself
im gonna see how bad it is running the mod
also is it a server side mod or client
client
ah tysm for the help
have you tried this?
np!
i havent tried that
how do i do that
is it in minecraft
or
go into dh's settings and edit the value
yes, in game there is a button next to the fov slider to take you to dh's settings
pc thing
ill go into the game and test it out
dh = distant horizons
Would capping my fps also help do u think
?
it might help
Do I use minimal or low
whatever works best for you
the lower the cpu load, the slower distant generation will be
Didn’t really fix much
Saldy
Sadly
ive seen DH work on 8 gb raspberry pi's so there must be some setting you can tune to make it run better
what DH quality preset are you on?
Low
It worked js was pretty laggy
are you running reasonable vanilla settings? like around 8 render distance?
Yup
I'm out of ideas then
I might try the mod again in the near future when I upgrade to a new pc or upgrade my ram
