How many chunks are you trying to load in? Not a professional but looks like your cpu can't handle it
i mean theres maybe 4 players on a server at a time
cpu usage is 75% soo not the worst right?
I mean thats pretty high
the graph shows that you're loading in around 9000 chunks
its on a vm my dads running so i could always add more cores but the last time i did it, it didnt make it alot bettr
holyy
is it bcs its a new server, its been up a couple days
how many cores are you allowing it right now
well chunks load in when people explore them, so unless your players are exporing 9000 chunks in a few days...
system information is saying 2 of "Processor Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2678 v3 @ 2.50GHz, 2497 Mhz, 1 Core(s), 1 Logical Processor(s)"
i mean players are exploring alot, idk about 9000 chunks tho
is that just while spark was active or
Give it a second core, it will help I think
all of my information is based off of your spark report, so yes
i mean theres already 2 so u mean a third?
you said here "1 Core(s)"
so the vm must not have the second core
from system information
The system information from the VM?
yes
Well the vm clearly doesn't have access to the second core then
Idk why
does spark say it only has one ?
I can't help you with that either
yea i can figure it out mysrlf
bro
his vps is clearly 1 core 2 threads
idk what the fuss is about
Am I blind-
Holy I am blind
yea idk muc habt processors but i think its a single core cpu
its not, you are just given a single core/2 threads to work with
who do you host with?
my dad π
he has a vm
okay then, at least not some crappy providers
anyways the cpu is really not that great for minecraft
the vm is pretty powerful from what i think
so I would recommend pregenning
are multicore threads better
I can tell you my discord bots run on better stuff
lemme ask my dad the cpu specs rq
no not really, you'd stop seeing a significant improvement after reaching 2/3 threads
unless you use folia
but then you'd be asking your dad for the entire server
also is that windows, you don't run windows on some 9 year old xeon with 2 virtualized threads
i mean we have 48 cores and 124 gb ram but hes running other shit on ity
ease of acess im not tryna have linux on it
windows is probably eating like most of your performance anyways
your choice
how much would you allocate
i can just adjust it idk how much recourses are reccomended
and just to prove my point
at least 3 threads and use ubuntu server 2204
for 4 players, use somewhere around 4-6gb ram
ram isnt the issue i have 16gb and allocate 10 to the server
ram IS the issue too
too much and GC will struggle
the cpu doesnt help too, neither does windows
more != better
so how much should i allocatw
I already told you, ubuntu server with 8gb ram for vm and allocate 4-6gbs to jvm
give os 2gb overhead
3 threads
gotchu
and get rid of windows
unless you want your server to perform like aternos
since this is resolved can i get your help again?
?
i been pinging you
ask him to shrink your ram down to 8g and give 3-4 threads
actually nevermind that
backup your server and tell him to trash the vm
Is ubuntu an os or a vm
make a new one with ubuntu server
ubuntu is an os that runs on a vm
beat me to it lol
any form of operating system runs on a vm
just make sure the iso you use is built for the architecture running the vm
take my dev server specs for reference if you wish
most of the time its x86 version, though if the physical server the vm's running on uses it, it can be arm64.
So 1.ubuntu 2. Run 4 threads 3.shrink to 8g
pretty much
Rn I have 16g ram 24VCPU so 12 cores which is 24VCPU
what?
you only have 2 threads thats given to you
also
are you planning to make the server public
@Baljeet
No
Just me and a couple fiends
Why
use whitelist then
I was gonna tell you to stop if you want to make it public
the security implications
Hey do I do Ubuntu server or ubuntu desktop
you'd probably want to use ubuntu server
Realistically though, I don't believe switching to ubuntu will make that massive of a difference. imo, adding either Radium or Canary would make a bigger difference
you can only use one or the other; they're incompadible with eachother. They're just different ports of the same performance patches
I prefer server
But for you you may want to use desktop
