my lava is dark
some of my lava shows up dark, waiting 20 minutes for the lods to update did not help. i doubt the mod list is required here but ask me if you need it

try a different shader. if that does work, its a shader problem
some lava are just dark

My guess is that through the LoD building process the whole lava column converts into a not lava block
Try increasing quality preset
And disable Cave culling
