there is no other cause known apart from starlight/stablelux.
can you try updating DH?
I could but then I wouldn't be able to use shaders
why?
because oculus doesn't support it?
have you ever had starlight or scalable lux installed?
There is experimental alpha Oculus 1.7.5 that works
try this one, it may or may not work https://github.com/Asek3/Oculus/actions/runs/11198312573/artifacts/2020008921 (you need to be logged in)
No not when i made this world atleast, I had starlight for a bit but it was before I made this world so it shouldn't matter
Well... I have no idea why this happened then, but the only fix is DH 2.2+
Very well I'll try that then thank you
seems to have improved it slightly but with the updated version of dh and the oculus version you sent the game crashes when i try to turn on shaders
oh darn
not much else you can do i think
The black chunks will get fully fixed anly after they are updated/regenerated
i flew over them and nothing changed
You would need to place a couple of blocks in the affected chunks and wait a minute inside with a high CPU load in DH settings
Or regenerate or LODs by deleting the LOD DB

hmm alright ill do this then but theres still the issue of the game instantly crashing to desktop when i turned on shaders
The only thing left that you can do is switch for fabric or to DH 2.1.0
With Fabric being a better choice
well sadly one of my favourite mods is only for forge so that isnt an option
do you think this would work on 2.1.0
also the file i got was called the same as the oculus version i already had just with a slightly larger file size
is that supposed to happen?
yes
ahh okay
Yes, because the black chunks was 2.1.2 specific bug
You will get slower generation, less fps and random black blocks with DH 2.1 though
ahh thats rough, luckily i've already generated a ton
maybe I should just stick to 2.1.2 then since there's very few chunks like that atleast until a new oculus version releases
If it releases
It is kindoff in an abandonment process...
ahh rip
Because Iris 1.8 now supports neoforge on 1.21+
hopefully the mod keeping me on forge updates to neoforge 1.21 or fabric then
What mod is it?
Crossroads
ahh seems it has a neoforge version but not for 1.21
Most forge mods, run on neoforge if you just try it
yeah but sadly it hasnt updated to 1.21 so I wouldn't be able to switch to that anyway
Ooh I just had an idea, fix the chunks on 2.2+ then go back to 2.1.2 and be able to use shaders again
The problem with that will be that something broke the chunks in the first place, and there is even a change that you can fix them in 2.1.2 itself, but they might happen again
well it fixed the chunks that were annoying me and there were already so few to begin with
