Tricky Pieces - Topic of the day 10/26/24
We all have those grails or impulse purchases that seemed like must-have, great choices at the time, but when it comes to styling them, the fits just aren't working. What are your tricky pieces? Can you help your fellow MFADers find ways to incorporate them? Let's limit it to one piece each at first so everyone has a chance for feedback.

I love it, people have literally stopped me on the street to ask where I got it, but man, never quite found a fit that I personally loved

The overall vibe fits with a lot of my stuff but actual fits, tricky. Its very maximal
Dislike the phrasing of this question so I'm choosing to ignore it. I don't need help, I've figured it out, but these pants I knew going in would be hard to use and they've been even harder to style than I expected but they rock and my fits with them are sick now

For some reason I find brighter outerwear hard to style, and every outfit I try and incorporate it into feels 'off' - jarring perhaps, so haven't worn it anywhere near as much i'd like
if there's an old inspo guide floating around anywhere for brighter/whiter outerwear then that'd probs help loads

I don't think this is amateur sounding at all! White jackets do be hard to style
Olive is a good pairing, white/black is always an option
the right accessories can help tone it down. Similar to how brendangs jacket has a contrast collar, maybe a darker bandana or scarf could help

crossposting from waywt; proxied a pair of harvesty circus pants, and while the long rise and short inseam theoretically works, in practice it is rather cropped lol. i don't mind it, i probably would need more intentional shoe/sock pairings with them

now that i own boots it's a definite thought for sure (though i hate the act of putting on/taking off said boots 😭 )
Simply put them on and then never take them off
Tall boots + cropped pants would go hard
My two favorite outerwear pieces are my bright orange hermes duffle coat and all white acronym jacket. I wear those often with light wash jeans and neutral/natural coloured shoes
