Wrong Oculus version
You need 1.7.5 alpha from Oculus special github branch
Or use DH 2.1.2
The oculus you need: https://github.com/Asek3/Oculus/actions/runs/11198312573/artifacts/2020008921
hi! I've installed the oculus version provided, however I'm still getting the old version screen (that oculus 1.7.0 is too old), should I install a different file now?
oh weird, you probably need to wait then until this version has been uploaded to curseforge/modrinth and is renamed to 1.8.0
nevermind, I've manually edited the mods.toml file and changed the version number there, it seems to work fine now
nice!
what do I do with the zip file? unzip it?
I had the exact same problem that I've been trying to solve for weeks - I only discovered today that Distant Horizons is causing it, since in the crash report it only says oculus and embeddium.
do I unzip it and then only grab this one?
should I rename it to 1.7.5 as well as modifying the mods.toml?
Yes
You may need to edit the mods.toml to make it oculus 1.8.0
ok but don't rename the mod itself, just change the mods.toml
wait I'm blanking on where to find the mods.toml
oh and for that matter can I use this
like is this ^ the same as the one I downloaded from this link or no
I don't know either, I don't use forge
Just something I heard someone else saying they needed to do
I'm not sure
wheres the mods.toml I completely forget
ok I'll look some things up
Oh that was in this exact thread π
yup
Inside the jar
You unzip the mod file (jar is a zip in disguise)
Edit the mods.toms
Or whatever the forge has inside
Then Zip it back
Yes I just double checked
Unzip the mod
Go to META-INF
an there you will find mods.toml
Edit it, save it
Then zip the mod back
You don't even have to change the extension to jar if I remember correctly
But do it just in case
what I downloaded from the github was this:
unzipped to this
opened gitbash here
and ran .gradlew build
based on this suggestion
is that wrong?
No, there are 2 ways:
1. Unzip what you have just built (unzip the mod jar) and do what I said before
2. Before building the mod (before running the reddit command) edit the file and build it, then you donβt have to do anything more
I don't see any mod jars at all. I see a zipped folder, but no jars
This created a jar file in path build > libs
where do I find that?
and I ignore the shadow and sources jars?
seems like its working
yes
thank you!!
No problem
ok
well my game runs with oculus now
but whenever I try to turn on a shader the game crashes
halp π
You can report a bug to Oculus dev and wait
Or switch to fabric
unfortunately not an option for this
You can use an older DH version, 2.2.1 or 2.1.2
aren't those much less optimized?
and, well, idk if its even a DH problem at this point
2.2.1 is same, but with no blending and server side support
2.1.2 has almost the same fps but 35% longer LOD generation time
iirc
