@Michael i did it
Oh this’ll go well
I’ll kick this off as a former diehard SLP/Hedi (and then Vac) fan. The look(s) that made SL such a vibe 10-15 years ago are so exceptionally dated and sort of continue to be. Hedi’s run on Celine was popular, but it was also a retread—even the more out there stuff felt like it was just pandering to the next generation of rebellious rich kids. But like, that’s just my opinion, man. I’m sure it’ll all come back around at some point. But looking through some of my old fits I’m just like…dawg, skinny jeans look fuckin BAD, dude.
I will say: the boots still slap. The leather jackets still slap. But the vibes have just shifted SO much that it’s hard to look at any Hedi stuff without feeling the same way I feel when I see old r/rawdenim posts with low rise, tapered, pin rolled N+F jawnz
Will note that there’s a separate Hedi thread but I agree
Although Vaccarello has had a wonderful pivot after breaking out from the ‘Hedi 2.0’ thing-he’s been really good the last few years
In both menswear and womenswear
Many people are going to come in here to Hedipost and I’m resigned to that- it’s a part of the brand’s history, especially in a lot of our lifetimes, but this brand has a really rich history- it’s named after the best designer ever!- and I want to talk about that stuff too
slp style :kennyno: (not for me anyways)
old st laurent in a vacuum, s/s 25 :kennyyes:
:letsfuckinggo:
I think YSL/SLP is always gonna be a bit special to me since seeing hedi slp stuff is what initially got me interested in fashion. Starting out I was really into the brand but once I caught onto how bad/dated the hedi skinny jeans look was I more or less lost interest in everything they offered except their boots. It feels good that I'm able to come back around to it now that the modern looks are so nice and that the vintage ones line up with my current brainworm of trying to do 'Husbands at home'
:linkYeah:
I've got exactly... 1 item from YSL
This hoodie.
I don't know what the slogan on the front means but it's covertly YSL :linkSmug:
I like the suiting they did for their last runway
really sharp shoulders that drape into something more slouchy further down
I was discussing magazines in #Fashion inspiration books?
I might try and find a YSL book at some point for inspo
the book by the Met (isbn 9780870993602) is excellent but a lot of their stuff is quite expensive so id encourage you to check out your local library for it
a lot of the met's fashion exhibition books are awesome honestly- the Heavenly Bodies one is unbelievable
This jacket is the only thing I own from SLP but i absolutely love it
SLP? :thonk:
saint laurent paris- when Hedi Slimane took over in 2012 (i think 2012), he rebranded to drop the Yves from the brand name
ah
i thinkkkkkk its from an Yves quote but i dont know for sure
Yeah I've got 1 SLP hoodie and 1 item from the pour homme diffusion line, a long sleeve shirt.
I'm aware of pour homme being less quality but I found it once at a second hand store and it was alright for £6.

Saint Laurent Is Suiting Up for Spring 2025
Designer Anthony Vaccarello masters the suit in all of its traditional, quirky and modern iterations.
some of the textiles are a little goofy but i think that's the point
kinda want a u-neck vest
Yeah it’s interesting to see him trying to expand past the one thing (the dbs) that has worked the couple years because as I think you’ve seen me say I was interested to see how he’d bring the womenswear ideas into the men’s looks and I guess it looks like this
There’s some good stuff and a few pretty atrocious misses in here but I’ll be pretty interested to see what he’s putting on the runway in January
