VC4-300 IDEX something off, hope it is the belt tensions
Hey there ,
I tried to fix my belts with the 9 mm belt tension meter. They are now all almost the same tension.
Nevertheless there seems something off with the system.
When adding the shaper values to the config, the print quality does not improve and I'm kind of disappointed.
You can see a lot of ghosting and also it is brighter at one side that on the other.
Also the values for Acc. are quite conservative with only 5k max.. Am I wrong to expect this to be more?
I just hope that this is related to the tension. At least Helge is in this opinion, as it is his old printer 😉
Hope you can help me.
Attached the graphs and pictures of a Voron calibration cube...
I'm only at the printer in the working hours, so if you have tipps or solutions in the afternoon, I might only test this the next morning. Sorry 😉

@VisualTech48 could you do me a favor and assist him with your experience?
What do you need mate
Let's see
@Nico S. You have a bit higher low level vibrations which is in my experience the motion system. While I was tunning my printer I made. A 3d printed block to test this, I'll send it over soon so we cam trouble shoot a bit.
What are your print spped. You might be printing too slow even if you have low acceleration.
Best to give me a screen of your profile as well and printet cfg
Perhaps before I come to my pc, run a VFA tower with the current acceleration, speed from 50-220
Hey, thanks
I'm on now 😉
will run the VFA tower now
will take about an hour now 😉
this is the speed settings
@VisualTech48 So the VFA is finished
Great show it please. Also I need the acceleration part below as well on your slicer.
0
45
60
30
90
Accel for VFA now
for the cube in the picture i had
5000
3000
4000
2500
5000
0
2500
0
5000
oh and for the 0 VFA, the issues are pictured from the oposite side. So when rotating clockwise and looking only at the right side, the issues get better at the top for all parts.
so, any ideas @VisualTech48 ?
Just out of interest, where are you located? Not that I disturb you in the middle of the night right now 😉
In Croatia @Nico S.
So VFA was made with 5000 accel outer walls?
What is your PA?
In your graph you have low freqency noise, which usually at least in my experience correlated to either to tight/loose belts.
Based on your VFA you have significat noise in that 25-50 hz, and mostly in the Y
And since oyu have wide Xes that means that thereis noise there as well. This can be as simple as motor vibrations and as complicated as frame not being stiff enough.
In my case it was too loose belts for instance, and gantry was racking just enough for this to be the case.
These noise is the worst for me to diagnose,
Because you basicly have 3 peaks.
So something in the machine is not operating as it should, for the Y, having 2 peaks is "okejish" as its hard to really get rid of the second one unless your printer is perfectly built. Looking at you @Helge Keck
For your instance you really need to get the bottom of these start peaks, they are really bad as they are either:
A) Heavy motor vibrations
B) Frame is just basicly not tight enough, or stiff. I'm not sure if you have extra brackets is it eenclosed or something, but at least in my case, my frame is built like a tank.
C) Tension.
You can easily over or undertension the idex.
Its funny how easy you can mess it up.
But your X graph tells me something is definitly loose as its quite wide.
Basicly we always want the graph to perfectly co-relate to a single point.
Ie my old X graph:
8K
Well you can't use 8k if your Y graphs tell you 5800
You can then use max 5k
For outer walls
Inner walls 9k then perhaps and inside how much you can push it really.
0.03
Do VFA with 4800
But for a 300 you should get more a bit, again please recheck your printer something is definitly vibration in the low end, whihc again imo is the worst as its for me at least hard to diagnose.
If you lower the peak somehow, if you find the source.
there is no housing yes. waiting for these parts
If you jsut lower this to 0.25 it would cause less issues.
Solution
But run the outer 4800 for now.
Check the VFA
ok, will do
will use these values
after this, if I have spare time in the afternoon, I will check, if there are any loose screws, that I find
Just the outer walls
For internal stuff it doesn't matter
Normal printing can be 8k easily, you are basicily chekcing the quality and what is affecting your outer walls.
Which are the only ones visible outside @Nico S.
What do you mean?
Placement of the printer?
Nevermind...
Switching in languages ^^
I think I got your point
Sorry, english is not my native languge and I write quite fast. If I am unclear let me know.
mine neither 😉
where you from?
I told you up Croatia 😄

😅 so no other in common language, but the time difference is not that big. I'm from Germany
Nice to hear, fellow European. If I can help further let me know I'm hovering at least once or twice a day here.
Sure 😉
so the new one looks much much better
left before, right afterwards
optimum seems to be at 130
There you go, know you know your optimal acceleration / speed for the outer perimeters.
Next is flow, pa, etc.
ok, thanks. I will test a bit with these settings...
By the way, can you tell me, where to look for these vibrations.
Are they inside the printer (loose screws, wrong angles and such, so from the motion system) or from external=
Saddly no 😦 each machine its specific
ok, thanks....
Hopefully i get my online view fixed and the panels could help here a bit to stiffen things up
but at least I now know, where I can look at
thanks a lot
