Streaming Quality Issues + Noise Gate Help
Hi! So i was trying to stream minecraft earlier and im having a weird quality issue, and i have it in other games too. Where it just looks really blurry/pixelated. Ive tried messing with bitrates and stuff but it doesnt seem to fix anything. Before i have had my bitrate at 8000, i also have a i9-12900k so i have the encoding stuff pretty high even though idkwhat alot of it means. I also have it outputting at 1080p, but in the past with recording ive had it scaled to higher resolutions to make it look better for recordings.
Also the noise gate thing, alot of times the mic will pick up just like mouth noises and it sounds gross and i dont want it to go through but no matter how much i mess with the noise gate, it seems to barely help. Granted, i really have trouble understranding noise gates. For example i think i have the settings right like i dont want anything under say -35db to be picked up, but sometimes it does, and other times if i say something above that, then theres a noise a second later at a lower volume, it will pick it up. It confuses me alot, any help would be apreciated!

tried putting the bitrate to 13500 cua youtube told me to
also scared to 1440p
might be easier to show us your stream settings. what is your upload speed etc.
oh ruight i meant to do that i forgor
all these other settings look fine to me. but is your video settings canvas set to since you are rescaling here.
also since you are using youtube to stream switch to nvenc h265 as well
can u reword that last sentece or say a exapmple? sorry having trouible understanding
For video encoder in your screenshot. its listed as nvidia nvenc h.264. click its dropdown menu and switch to nvidia nvenc h.265
I dont have that option, ill update obs if i have one avalible
huh. what version of OBS are you on?
and what graphics card do you have
not sure i just srtarted update
i have a 3060
can you screenshot when you have the dropdown menu open cuz that 3060 will have that option for sure
sorry my mistake. use hevc
Ur ok!
ALso theres a new thing that says rescale output now
Since i feel like im having a blur issue, whichj of those should i select?
im drawing a blank here but i believe you pick bicubic i think.
Alrighty i was thinking the same
also can you go to the obs video settings. what do you have here. you may not even need the rescale
Any ideas for the rest of encoder settings? i set bitrate to 13500 since thats what youtube recomended im just not sure how well it will hold up entirely
I have canvas as 1440 and scaled as 1080 bc for youtube videos that what works best
along with bicubic and 60fps
You dont need the scale or rescale. YouTube takes 1440p natively. You have upload speed to do so as well
The max 30,000 https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2853702?hl=en
Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions - YouTube Help
Choose a quality that will result in a reliable stream based on your internet connection. Read this article to learn how.
i see, so should i set both to 1440p?
yes. then turn off rescale output in the previous section. as well as putting up your bitrate to say 20000 or higher
Gotcha
I cant reallyt find any settings in the advanced encoding that matcehes with obs on there
its outdated. i only use the bitrate recommendations
gotcha!
you can streamline the settings a bit by logging into your youtube account directly in OBS in the stream setting if you havent already
Im having some trouble with th bitrate still - doing a test stream and its fluctuating ALOT
its going from like 200-25000 and going from one bar on the thing to full and yeah
https://testmy.net/ go here. do upload speed only it will give a better representation than speedtest.net
its going really all over the place, it went from 2mbps, to 80, to 5
retested 3 times
From what ive seen on the test stream i did - it was going back and forth alot of being good and then a complete 2 fps looking mess then normal again
so must be smth to do with my internet i suppose
im assuming your computer is wired connection
Im using a wifi dongle connected through a usb hub
.......
well theres your problem
which is probabl cursed
i mean i still get like
really fast downloads
my motherboard came with a attena i just never could get it working
doesnt me anything for downloads. your upload speeds need to be stable in order to stream. your new motherboard did not come with its own wifi at all?
Nah it didnt it just had a attenna thingy
that would usually mean you do have one.. though do you happen to know your motherboard model or version
z690 aorus elite ax
i tried getting the drivers for the attenta before and stuff but never got it working
o can try again tho
you most likely have a intel wifi chipset. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19351/834800/intel-wireless-wi-fi-drivers-for-windows-10-and-windows-11.html download this. then disconnect the usb wifi dongle. install the driver
Intel
Intel® Wireless Wi-Fi Drivers for Windows® 10 and Windows 11*
This download installs the Windows® 10 and Windows 11* Wi-Fi package drivers 23.80.1 for the Intel® Wi-Fi 7/Wi-Fi 6E/Wi-Fi 6 and Intel® 9000 series Wireless Adapters
installed that and did that, i think i gotta find the mobo wifi drivers now
oh i know the problem i think, looked at the manual
its ghonna force me to instakk the gigabyte app center
that ive been avoiding for over a year
thats how i get the wifi drivers and attenna working i think
No your wifi adapter thats built into the mobo. That intel driver should have it installed
You don't need the app center whatsoever
You just need to disconnect the usb wifi adapter. And reconnect the mobo antenna
I tried that amd it didnt work, also just tried the app center drivers and didnt work. Atenna doesnt show up at all i wonder if its just busted
I may buy a tp-link powerline thing sometime
In windows search type device manager. Go under Network adapter category what do you currently have under there
if your motherboard came with antennas, they're for the built-in WiFi card so if u can get those working and use the Motherboard's Wifi device u should be a lot more stable! I'm stuck at ~10 Mbps Up but thats bc I live in a shitty-serviced neighborhood with CABLE internet
I'm using the exact antennas shipped with my MSI motherboard, and aside from my internet plan it's pretty good! If they're just black plastic antennas with a corkscrew, you'd screw them both onto the matching corkscrews on your motherboard; they aren't specific to left or right
and then point them vaguely in the direction of where your Wi-Fi signal is coming from
And make sure to uninstall the devices related to the USB Wifi adapter too like Diamond said, so Windows cannot be confused
@DrewDoesThings
I have the attenna plugged in currently
Would i hit uninstall device when i right click on it?
if needed how would i reinstall those drivers if it doesnt work
Im not sure if this is anything but i just saw this
last thing ill say real quick - idk how to uninstall drivers
hmm
I wanna say your USB dongle is the Linksys device? Right click that one, go to properties, and under the Driver tab hit Disable instead of Uninstall
that way you can re-enable the driver if u do need that USB dongle in the future
It wouldn't matter here. Im thinking gigabyte might have disabled the onboard wifi and Bluetooth by default. And Birdie needs to enable it again
that would be so annoying!
@Birdie did u have the antennas physically connected to the motherboard last time you booted the PC? I could see a situation where it checks and says "no antennas connected, lets disable the wifi"
I never had to enable the onboard wifi for mine, but it's a different board and I installed the antennas *the first time, so I'd trust Diamond more on the bios side of it
GG @DrewDoesThings, you just advanced to level 2 !
I dint think so, i could reboot and see if it foes anything but i dont think it will. There were dome intel drivers i found listed on the mobo site that i know i tried before and idk if they are the same ones diamond had me install yesterday
how would i do that?
It's different for each motherboard, so Google "bios key -your motherboard-", but find the BIOS key, and while the PC is restarting hit that key (whether it's f8, f12, delete, etc) until u get to a different screen than windows
Stupid question but the back of the motherboard. Are there actual antenna connection points to put the antenna you have in the first place
Yeah, the screw on things
ah, I just googled it. For Aorus boards you press F2 or Delete for the bios!
nice nice, as long as u can't tighten them anymore I think that'll work.
In the bios it's hard to tell u exactly where to go since the interface is different, but try to find a video of someone explaining the different parts of the Aorus bios, and look for the network/wifi page, that should let u turn it back on *if it was disabled at the bios-level
^
?
thats the only internet related thing in this bios
its very barebones
No go towards integrated peripherals or networking section
only other similar thing
and it only has info on what that thing is
Can you go back one menu let me see the rest of the bios settings
this is io ports
Hmm do you have revision 1.1 or 1.4 of your board. it seems gigabyte a switchahoo with you https://www.reddit.com/r/gigabytegaming/s/t0r2CZ6Ywe

this seems best option i suppose
I tried finding mobo rev but its on the motherboard somewhere i cant see
so theyre saying they installed the amd driver rven tho they had a intel chip and it seemingly worked ?
oh man
that sucks
i forgot thats even a thing 😭
best case scenario if u cant get Wifi any other way would be to re-enable the driver for your wifi dongle and try running it on a Host usb port? ie not through a hub?
You can attempt to install it yes. Then that unknown pcie device may show itself as that amd wifi chip
it worked!!!!
goodbye dongle ive been usiong for 7 years
and i got wifi 6 now
Thanks for the help yall - I apoligize for being so dumb xD
Well ig im not dumb considering how stupid of a fix that was
Hopefully the streams get better, even if they dont im glad i got this damn attenna working finally
Okay you have rev 1.4 then. Good
haha yeah
i was pretty sure i did in the back of my head but couldnt remember
nh-d15 to big to check lol
To help with the noise gate thing - noise gate doesn't remove noise. It just dictates the minimum threshold under which your microphone is "off" so to speak. If you speak, and go over the threshold defined, the gate opens, and it lets all sound through.
You want a noise remover, not a noise gate.
Google "ERA 6," they used to give it (processing suite) away for free (and then took the version offline, not gone back to charging), so it's still available on some sites, they have a module called "Mouth de-clicker," which works wonders.
if you truely cannot be hardwired, you are at least having an internal wifi now which is less prone to overheating which if you were using for 7 years. not surprised at the inconsistent speeds.
