LOD render distance maxes out at like 256 no matter what I set it at…
Was working fine before I tried to generate a new world. I even tried deleting the config file… not sure what to do now

Okay yeah it only seems to happen in the one world
how long have you waited for new chunks to be generating? did you have cpu load in dh's settings at i paid for the whole cpu?
The chunks are all generated. But it seems to be a render distance thing as it renders in a perfect circle and unloads chunks as I get too far away
I waited overnight lol
And yeah I messed with all the cpu settings
a perfect circle? can you share a screenshot? DH doesnt generate in a circle
My mistake, a rough circle made of chunks. Indicative of the chunks only loading in within a certain radius of the player
oh, so its not doing distant generation at all? but you are seeing DH chunks?
Yes. The chunks are fully generated. But my render distance is capped at (what looks like 256) no matter what I change it to. And it’s only on one world. I’m just gonna re-generate the chunks in a new world. If that doesn’t fix it I’ll send some more info
can you share a screenshot of what you think is 256?
Recorded a video to show how chunks load in when i move towards them, and deload when i move away. Render distance is at 1024, cpu set to paid for the whole thing (hence the fps)
Again, only on this world though. So, not too big of a deal. Just kinda weird.
here’s a slightly different world (a previous iteration), this one renders the whole mountain easily even at 512 rd
that is an insane world jeez.
but yea thats like 100 chunks max.
if your fps is impacted because you set cpu load to i paid for the whole cpu, it means its not done generating yet
(My fps may or may not always suck) but hm okay. Good to know
/slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium and Faster Random, these mods can improve generation speed by a couple percent.
Make sure to remove the C2ME mod as it significantly slows down DH chunk generation by up to 35%.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)you can try the second section to make sure it is indeed generating
