What should I do with the front pocket of my suit jacket that's sewn shut?

I noticed the front pocket of a suit I got recently is sewn shut and I'm not sure what to do about it since it's my first suit. I'm bringing it to a tailor later to get the sleeves shortened but I'm wondering if asking the tailor to fix the front pocket (so I could put a pocket square in it) is something I could reasonably ask? Or is it something I should be able to do myself?

Front pockets of suits are usually sewn shut when in store for whatever reason. Some ppl don't use their suits pockets and keep them that way bc it supposedly looks neater. I even had thrifted suits with closed pockets. Opening them is pretty simple, the stitching is usually intentionally quite easy to undo bc its supposed to be temporary. You can easily do that yourself if you are careful, but can also ask the alterations tailor to do it if you are concerned about messing it up.

It apparently has to do with creasing during transport or sth

Thanks. I've decided to leave it for the time being and consider opening the pocket later.
