cpu load
Im looking forward to building myself a new pc specifically for dh, if I remember correctly dh is mostly cpu bound, so what characteristics cpu should have so it performs better with dh? Should I prioritise more cores in the cpu or the individual core power?

thanks in advance
more cores
DH can in theory use unlimited threads
so in theory picking intel over amd is a smart choice
thanks tho!
well that depends on the exact CPU, I'm sure there are AMD CPUs that have more cores for the same price
and 13900k cores won't help if you won't be able to cool those 250W
and even some 420mm AiO have problems with it
Arctic has very good (and cheap) AiOs
mostly choosing between Core i5-14600KF and ryzen 5 7700, so 14 cores vs 8.
either way thanks for you help!
No problem 😸
Do not pick a 13th or 14th gen Intel CPU. They have a bug that degrades the cpu very fast
Besides, you shouldn't consider the 14600kf anyway because the 13600kf is the same thing for cheaper
In theory is is already fixed if you remember to update the motherboard bios...
We don't know that
Intel has released many bios versions and claimed the issue has been fixed each time
Then they crawl back and release a new one because the problem wasn't fixed after all
They released another bios version around a week ago
The problem is that it's so hard to determine if the issue is this happening or not, because it happens with time
Well, they are fixing something every time, so the lifetime should be greater then at the begining
Hm, then would you say sth like 12700k is a better pick?
The first fix actually made it worse, ironically enough
That's a fine pick yeah. You'll have to look at some gaming benchmarks and then some multithreading benchmarks to see if picking the 12700k over the 7700 is worth it just for dh. (The multithreading benchmark shows you how fast dh will be able to generate chunks)
So the 12700k will likely be faster at world generation, while the 7700 will be faster in fps
Ahh thanks 🙏 Ill check everything out. Dont think fps should be a problem, even in 1440p… so maybe intel is the way to go🤔
Thanks again
Np!
(resolution doesn't matter for cpu load, it's the same in 720p as in 1440p)
I was talking about overall fps, either way with 4070 ti super 1440 shouldn’t be a problem i guess… honestly cant wait to jump into dh.. such a beauty…
Alr after some research seems like 12600kf and 7500f are the best choices…
Yo Puhpine you seem to know a lot about pcs. So may I ask if nvidia or amd is better for mc shaders
Am just not sure what mc shaders eat the most… vram or some other kind of thing
Oh and in terms of cpu I chose to go with 7800x3d
I’ve read somewhere that it’s the best cpu for gaming soo
:cou:
AMD because it provides better price to performance. Nvidia's main selling points are features like dlss and ray tracing, which you can't use in minecraft. Unless you're running some ultra HD texture pack vram won't be an issue with minecraft. Whats your budget for the gpu?
The 7800x3d would have been a great choice if you bought it a month ago, but its basicly unobtanium now, not bring available for sub 400 dollars anymore. If you want the best of the best cpu, you can wait a month and hopefully the next generation 9800x3d will have been released for a better price than what the 7800x3d currently is.
I for some reason thought that some shaders allow to use rtx, which seems to run better on nvidia. But I agree on the point, currently 4070s ti and 7900xt run with a 100$ difference which seems like not a lot comparing the performance. In terms of budget I’m trying to stay in roughly 1000$ for gpu alone
In terms of cpu I think I’ll wait. I’m actually quite lucky and I’m buying all components for my build with 30% discount. So that 400$ for me is sth like 250-270, which is a steal ofc
May I ask what components are you running actually? The moderator’s pc prob can run dh pretty well haha
Ohhhh I’m wondering if it will be possible to run dh + shaders in 4k
Nvidia allows for better hardware raytracing. The raytracing you see in some shaders is software raytracing, so Nvidia won't help with that. Maybe it'll be better to wait for the next gen gpu's as well, as those will release in a few months. It's expected Nvidia will announce their rtx 50 series at CES.
It's a frankenstein. Do as I say, don't do as I do.

With a high end graphics card thats absolutely possible
I’m going to build my pc closer to the new year, so if they release by that time, might as well get a 50 series, same applies to the cpu. And thanks for the explanation about rtx!
Still an amazing build tho!
I hope it will 🙏
Thanks!
Thanks again man, really appreciate your help
