Unsure if DH is working
The screenshot here is when I have my vanilla settings render distance set to 12 chunks and the DH LOD Chunk Render Distance Radius to 250. I'm not even sure if that's the right setting to get more chunks to show up. So, first, is that the right setting?
In addition, I'm in singleplayer and my modlist is Big Globe, C2ME, DH, FerriteCore, Iris 1.8.0, Lithium, Satin API, ScalableLux, and Sodium along with various DH-supported shaders. It's very possible that there's user error at play, but I just don't know which settings I'm supposed to mess with for more chunk visibility.

chunk generation takes a long long time
and c2me significanly slows down DH generation speed, so i suggest removing that
/slowgen
World generation in general is quite slow, if you want to speed it up:
Install Noisium and Faster Random, these mods can improve generation speed by a couple percent.
Make sure to remove the C2ME mod as it significantly slows down DH chunk generation by up to 35%.
Increase
CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)For the wireframe part, do I need a minimap mod to see the blue and red boxes? My CPU load is in the 40s for "Zulu Platform x64 Architecture"

So, I moved a bunch in one direction, and this is what I see. New chunks are appearing, but no wireframes
what about with no shaders?

I downloaded a modpack with DH 2.1.0-a-1.20.6 and some other mods and that works fine for me

C2ME slows down DH generation by ~30%
So you should remove it
As you are not using Starlight nor ScalableLux
You should update DH to 2.1.2

All the other mods can be updated
Maybe some rare bug was fixed
Oh, that's not the pack I'm using. That was just one I tested
This is the one I was using
If even that does not work, the bigger one won't work
Try setting a new instance with only and only DH
No shader no Lithium
Set the distant generation to enebled
CPU load to agressive
And vanilla RD to 2
If it stars working report back
You can then add Iris and Soium, maybe Lithium and Noisium
After that other mods
Until it stops working
Big Globe probably causes the generation time to be 10+ times longer
So it is still possible that at the begining DH was warking correctly
But IDK why it broke on the test instance
This one worked fine. The one I made with Big Globe, even without all other mods, didn't work properly for some reason
That might just be the slowdown of Big Globe
I would say:
- make a screenshot
- wait an hour
- make a new screenshot
- compare screenshots if any new LODs appeared
It still might bjust be a Big Globe bug
Big Globe is so heavy that it made a curtom DH generator
This generator may still have bugs

I took this at 6:58 my time, it's 7:20 now and it looks the same. This is on vanilla render distance of 2 and CPU use set to Aggressive. And here are my settings
Update, I quit and restarted the pack without Iris Shaders and all my shaders also off in Modrinth. I also started a new world and now I'm seeing LODs load
This is the Iris verison I was using
Well, I turned Iris and all my shaders back on in Modrinth and everything still works. I don't know what the issue was, but now it's fixed I guess
