Was there a time you experiemented with a peice or outfit and it just clicked? Where it defined a definite shift in your fashion trajectory or opened you up to something new?

I have been pretty unhappy with a lot of my fits recently (might also be the depression talking, who knows), feeling like I don't have figured out where I want to go with my stuff yet. Those two experiments really hit the mark for me though. The 90s crotch-button blazer + super wide flared pants is a silhouette I really enjoy and an avenue that I want to continue exploring. Feel very me in a way that makes me happy.
So if you have any suggestions how to execute that idea lmk (though im afk for the next few hours)
i've posted this fit like 3 times in different contexts but—i too had margiela fever after the couture show and tried to do something that captured the vibe. i think it turned out great!
i could say boots or jewelry but my answer is still this; getting an ocbd to drape and retain volume just from knowledge of its measurements vs mine was an achievement in fashion nerdiness, to say nothing of the other boxes it ticks (subverting menswear, ivy, wearing a bunch of PRL)
Had a feeling it would work and then it actually worked so well
I've been an indigo hater my entire life. Grew up around ranchers who lived their entire lives in Levis so i've had a chip on my shoulder about blue jeans. Tried on many pairs over the years and always despised them.
Bought these Bronson selvedge on a whim a few months ago and they've done wonders getting me out of a style rut. I'm still trying to understand what it is about them that's so different from everything i've tried before but for now i'm content to finally have a pair of jeans that i actually like.
this one lives rent-free
those are a great cut

never wear a blazer casually and usually not OCBDs either - but it turned out ok
This is cool as hell
I think it can he so hard to figure out the formula on jeans sometimes. So many different cuts, washes, weights and all these other little stupid details can make it so hard to find a pair that really hits it just right
This fit is great glad you found your pair
probably my favorite fit from fit battle i was not involved in
I felt so goofy up until i looked on the mirror and i was like wait i think i’ve done something here
Hunting vest over tailoring
Also I think this is the first time I wore sneakers with tailoring and that’s kind of the wave I’ve been on for the last year
Patterned patches on the jeans using Casey's guide. Gurhka hat which I love.
that first fit is straight out of a lookbook
this goes so hard
some proper w i d e b o i s
my perception is so cooked at this point 😭 these look normal to me now. We need to go wider :mfad:

These are pretty old fits, but the explorations I did with them helped me cultivate my taste.
Note: I'm still searching to find a blue chore coat and a good pair of loafers that won't kill my left foot - have a bunion. Don't have this chore coat (1st pic) or loafers (2nd pic) anymore.
1) The pleated wide pants from Uniqlo U FW2019 was my gateway to wide fit. It helped me explore silhouettes and moved me away from the slim fit look I had been rocking a few years prior. This look is basic, but the wider silhouette worked well with the workwear leanings on the chore coat.
2) T-shirt under a shirt with 2-3 shirt buttons unbuttoned. Living in a tropical climate year-round, extra layers are tricky. But seeing Ethan Wong try this out, I was inspired to try it with a linen shirt on a rainy day. Again, fairly simple but it broadened my horizons of what layering could be.
Can’t believe we took flip a brick and made it two whole posts but we did it lads https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1288168072632598641/1288337282306277450/PXL_20220326_153553420.MP_Original.jpg?ex=66f579d8&is=66f42858&hm=da066684387facd55549b7ee9ba5d6d8be6a0ecbac385612136a2c7aa5bd0777&
I tried on these trousers just to be nice to their designer and it ended up redefining the volumes of my wardrobe.
I mean, literally. The guy was smiling awkwardly at me through the entrance of some PFW showroom I was checking out from the outside. So I went up to say hello, had a chat and then, out of the blue, he insisted that I try on some big-ass trousers he had left over from a previous collection. Long story short, the fit felt so nice I bought them on the spot and am now commonly known as the big-ass trousers guy.
All the pants I had worn before were either slim or straight. I thought that wide bottoms would look silly on a short guy like me, so it was not even an option to me. Turns out this type of fit was precisely what was missing to balance out my outfits' silhouettes.
How the turntables.
You look grally really good here.
grayt?
