Weird wave on Vcore 4 500 hybrid mesh
Hi everyone,
I bought my first coreXY printer and I got this mesh. It seams really wrong for me. i made the mistake to install the magnetic bed too early.
I try to fix it with the guide by moving the front left but it barely change the result following those instruction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7ZTq2dDTkM&t=881s
from what I get it may be is because of the x gantry.
Do you have an idea of why and how to fix it?
The printer is a Vcore 4 500mm in hybrid with default configuration.
Thanks

That wave is along the x gantry. Did you follow the instructions to tighten the rail from one side and continue one by one to the other? I would start with loosen the rail on redoing it to see if it makes a difference. Also are you sure the magnet is flat? Do you have a roller of any sort to make sure it’s all the way down?
I just tried to retighten the rail and roll a roller on the magnet, then restart ztilt and mesh but got the same result as before
do you have a straight edge? We need to figure out if the wave is the gantry or the bed and its going to be hard without a straight edge at this point. 1.2+ mm is something you need to fix. Is this the stock bed or upgraded machined bed.
if you dont have one I would almost look at taking the x rail out and making sure the surface of the 2020 extrusion is smooth and there is nothing on the back side of the rail causing it to not sit flat. I had a hump (~0.3mm and it turned out it was the 2020 rail and I just rotated it 90 degrees and now my mess is <0.250mm on a 500 machined bed
I think it's the machined bed, I don't have it but will look to borrow one and if I can't I will do what you recommend me. I will keep updated my problem. Thanks you
I think you would be the first I have seen with a machine bed that was damaged like this, especially at that much of a bend. Check the bottom side with the straight edge to make sure its not the magnet by some chance.
actually are you measuing with the PEI plate in place or bare against the magnet?
if bare, try with the PEI sheet, if with the PEI sheet, rotate it 90 degrees and make sure the wave does not rotate
i did it with and without the PEI but it don't change anything
I will try with rotating the PEI sheet 90 degrees
if you got the wave without the pei sheet its probably not going to make a difference but its worth a try
a straight edge is going to be your friend right now. 1.2+mm is going to be easy to see a wave. Its just a matter is it the bed of the x gantry being the problem. I am leaning towards the gantry as the wave is consistent across the entire bed and that would be hard on a bed that big and thick but let see
The result with the PEI sheet is the same, just a little bit less range 1.127 mm
strange. Get a straight edge and see where the problem is. If its the bed email ratrig at [email protected]. If the the gantry pull the rail off, clean the underside of it and rotate the 2020 extrusion 90 degrees and try again. Make sure you tighten the screws starting on one side and then work your way to the other. If you do not have a torque wrench (which I would recommend getting one) just tighten those screws until they are snug. If you go to tight you can deform the rail or extrusion. The recommended torque is only 0.98Nm
Hi, here is a little update on my mesh problem: I got contact ratrig and check on my bed plate, my bed is curve but not as on like a wave, just one curve going down in the center. I also spend some time on the frame to square it. I just gave an update to ratrig and Im waiting for their answer now
My new mesh after squaring the frame, i now have less than 0,1mm difference on all four corners
If you are confident the bed is flat then its the x gantry extrusion or rail that is the problem. It could be the gantry itself is not flat or you have something under the linear rail not letting it sit flat. I would suggest you take the extrusion and rail out and inspect them. If everything seems flat I would remove the rail from the extrusion and rotate is 90 degrees and then reattach. Make sure you do not over torque the screws. They are 0.98Nm rated which is not a lot of torque. If you can swing it a torque screw driver is a nice tool to have around.
I just try rotating the extrusion 90 degrees and got the same result... Could it come from the rail? i have no idea what to do now
It could be the rail. You could try rotating the rail 180 degrees to see if the wave goes the other way.
Hi, here is the end of the story. i try rotating the rail and it didn't come from it, after talking with ratrig they send me a new bed and here is the result.
To anyone who got the wave patern here is what I follow with help from chicken (thanks a lot btw) :
1. I squared the gantry thanks to this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7ZTq2dDTkM&t=1137s
on the vcore 4 I recommend to move the bottom (C and D) instead of the front (A and B) since there is more extrusion in front
2. to identify where the wave came from I rotate the extrusion 90° : if the wave change the extrusion is the problem
3. since it don't change anything I rotate the rail 180° : if the wave is inverted the rail is the problem (or part of it)
4. since it still don't change anything it come from the bed
DO NOT put the magnetic bed and heater bed too early or you may regret it as I did.
I thanks the community and ratrig for the help provided.
