Initial beacon calibration fails constantly...

I´m now trying since some hours with calibrating my beacon h. I don´t get something. Beacon screws are tight... I don´t know how to get this beast working on my VC4/300. Any help is appreciated. The same beacon was fine on my VC3,

did you check to make sure the leadscrews and clamps are all tight? also is everything upgraded in RatOS to the latest version?

Leadscrews and clamps are tight, RatOS is up2date.

is the nozzle clean. Like spotless with no filament loaded? Just making sure something is not hitting the bed before the nozzle

There is no filament loaded, the nozzle is clean and new. May be one z-motor can make some bs here? I don´t know... Before I change the motors I need to be at least sure...

what step are you on in the beacon calibration that is causing that error? also are you in performance mode? I dont think it makes a difference for this error but if you are comfortable your basic motions are working enable it in the configurator

It already fails at collecting samples. My printer is set up in performance mode, but I don´t think that this is the issue here.

@Rigattoni could you try this ? https://discord.com/channels/582187371529764864/859890291591217162/1286339423012786278 There was in issue where the default non-performance mode z accel was too low for beacon to properly register. If you have performance mode enabled that's not an issue. I also fixed the non-performance mode accel a few days ago so it should work consistently now. Check your nozzle is hottightened etc etc.

I tested the settings now...

I even don´t get that far to heat up the nozzle. The initial sample collection is failing. I just dismounted the complete hotend and assembled it again. Checked all screws at the bed and all other stuff. What I can say is, that I have 3x ldo-42sth47-2504ac on z, overtaken from my VC3.

do you mean the ldo-42sth48-2504ac? I am not familiar with the 47
Rigattoni
RigattoniOP3mo ago
The 47 is most probably identical to the 48. Has been sold by RatRig in the past together with their VCore3 printers.

ahh. a quick google came up mostly with 48s just wondering if the rotation distance was different you using the stock vc4 lead screws or reusing vc3 ones? I dont remember if they are different or not

Yeah this is most likely mechanical issues, z or toolhead. Also make sure you beacon is mounted parallel to the bed, i've seen some macguyvered setups that had it at a slight angle, which doesn't work well.

I bought the hardware kit which includes the lead screws. The 47s are identical to the 48s. They have the same rotation distance and amperage. I even don´t know why RatRig had them named 47 instead of 48. I made sure that the beacon is mounted properly, because I thought that that would be important. Leaving the motors on z in question... I still have some identical spare ones, so I first will exchange them. Well... let me say it in my words...

If your z-hight bumper are not mounted high enough, beacon is not even able to measure something useful... I´m now feeling like an absolute noob... 🙈 :kekw:
