Horrible Lag spikes with DH 2.1.2
I am using DH 2.1.2 in a modpack of mine on 1.20.1, and have had no issues until today when randomly I started having horrible lag spikes when I do any of these things...
- Right click or left click on the ground and or a block
- Break blocks
- place blocks
- open crafting table/doors etc
The lag spikes are inconsistent but happen almost every other time I do any of these actions, it makes the game nearly unplayable.
I am running DH with Oculus & Embeddium if that matters at all. When I remove Distant Horizons from my mod folder all these issues go away. Any help would be appreciated and I can even provide a video if needed, thank you

Try reducing the CPU load in DH settings
I have, Nothing
And that mean what?
If it happens without any mods try installing some performance ones
How much RAM did you allocate to MC?
What are your JVM/GC flags?
Means I have tried that, didnt fix anything, ive tried a ton of settings yet nothing worked
It only happens when distant horizons is installed, regardless of any other mods I have installed, I even made a new world with distant horizons installed and had no issues, its like DH corrupted that one world (my main world) and whenever I use it in that world I have these issues.
I allocated 13 gigs, then tried less, then more... but non of that worked either. and I am not sure what you mean by JVM/GC flags? elaborate please, sorry
This is a known bug. It's very rare, and for some reason every few months someone comes along with this problem. There has not yet been discovered a fix iirc
I pushed a potential fix for it in 2.2 if I remember correctly.
I think the lag is caused my some mod requiring chunk accessing to freeze the render/server thread, which is needed by DH to know if a chunk was changed and fired whenever a chunk is clicked on.
Im going to try the latest version of DH, what shader loader can I use though since Oculus doesn't work with it? Im on forge 1.20.1
Iris and Sodium for Forge beta
Avaible on Iris DC (I think)
I thought it was only for fabric?
No longer true for Iris 1.8 and Sodium 0.6.0 up!
Nice, thanks a lot for your help!
lmao I found it as soon as I sent that message
