Cowboy boots. I thought they'd be a novelty but they look great with a suit and are surprisingly comfortable.
may seem silly but indigo denim
I've been a blue jean hater for 29 years, finally bought a pair and i've barely taken them off since
I’ve literally never understood people’s view of cowboy boots as a novelty item but I’m glad a lot of folks are coming around
There’s very few shoe/boot types out there that are as versatile
R a w h e m s
I thoughts I would loathe them but I absolutely adore the looks
super timely but these girbaud jeans https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1283558603894165635
unique enough to be the focus of a fit but can still resemble standard light wash jeans
I blame John Wayne for the common common cultural misconceptions of the cowboy and thus, the cowboy boot for being seen as novel
Lack of exposure to real cowboy boots. Kind of the toupee effect in that the only ones you'd notice out and about are probably not the best examples. Not even any options locally to try any on.
Basketball shorts, can’t believe i’ve denied myself this pleasure for so long
I had to let this one percolate for a little bit because I think I typically buy pretty deliberately—I’m really comfortable in who I am and the aesthetic I go with, and I have been for a while. That said, there’s literally I think one jacket, other than like, denim stuff, that has stuck with me throughout. This dumb Balmain biker jacket has taken an absolute beating over the course of…it’s gotta be like almost a decade now. I bought this thing with my first paycheck from what I considered my first big boy job in NY. Absolute impulse. Other leather jackets have come and gone since—worn out or been donated, but this thing has just kept on trucking. It’s so molded to me at this point that I don’t think anyone else could wear it anyway. But in terms of versatility and cost per wear? Not half bad for a really dumb impulse purchase from a stupid fashion house.
the minute i picked up a pair of wide denim it marked a mini style shift for me
i now have like 4 pairs in different colors+washes
If you live outside the Americas its super rare to see them casually honestly
Im also a cowboy boot enjoyer. Especially as I have noticed that the heel is surprisingly comfortable for my flat feet for some reason.
I think my wardrobe surprises so far have mostly been negative ones, where I bought something I genuinely thought i would wear a lot and ended up barely touching.
Many such cases
I think the biggest surprise for me is how well the kapital ring coat suits me. Thought it was one of those things where I talked myself into buying a thing but it actually whips and works with all my stuff
Kap Ring Coat one of the most versatile outerwear piece of all time imo
Lol, plenty in Japan...especially this year!
Not been there for years. This a Tokyo only thing or?
Probably more city than country but yeah, plenty of people in the "Amekaji" crowd wear cowboy boots
My surprises are saved for fit battle
