DH + Shaders crashed game, M3 Pro Mac
I am encountering an issue loading Distant Horizons with Shaders. If I have BSL in the shaderpack folder upon startup the game crashes. If I add it while in-game and load the shaders, it crashes with error code 6. Using Bliss and Photon yield me with the message that the shaderpack was unable to load. Using in-dev version of Bliss as instructed, and using version BLSOrgininal_v8.3 (latest on modrinth). I have attached the latest log when attempting to load the game with shaders in the shaderpack folder, and also a screenshot of modlist. I appreciate any help on this!

Remove Indium and disable generic rendering in DH settings

indium was made obsolete by sodium 0.6
Removing Indium does not seem to alleviate the issue. Testing again with BSL results in a crash upon loading. Trying to load Bliss results in an error staing there was an issue loading the shader, please report to iris with the info of "No more available texture units while activating sampler depthtex0". Also I have ensured generic rendering is turned off.
Update - I had a resource pack I believe causing issues. Removing this allowed for shaders to load. Now I just have to get DH actually working as there are no LODs loaded.
can you try with just sodium, iris and DH?

With no resource packs, only those three mods, and generic rendering turned off BSL works. However, without any LODs. When turning this setting on to allow DH to load LODs, the game crashes with the same error 6.

Thats one way to put it, however I have seen others able to get it to work on lesser apple hardware. I wonder what the difference in setup is.
im not sure if the bug was fixed in the nightly builds, but you can try if you want to

the people that got it working maybe were using a mac with an intel cpu?
I believe they specified an arm variant of the chip. I've seen M1 and M2.

Im not sure either. Again, shaders work just fine on their own. DH works fine on its own. The second I turn that enable rendering on in settings to actually view the LODs, the game crashes with that same error 6.

With shaders enabled, it crashes when I turn on "Enable Rendering" in main DH settings. Everything in Generic Rendering has remained off (Enable rendering, enable beacon rendering, and enable cloud rendering).
and you tried with a different shader?

Well if the shader is in the shaderpack folder upon game launch, the game crashes instantly. However I can load the game with main Enable Rendering off and use shaders fine, but once I turn that DH enable rendering on it crashes once more.

what if you enable DH rendering before you join the world?
I added the shaderpacks once more upon booting the game. I ensured Enable rendering was on in DH settings. Then also selected a shaderpack. Upon loading the world, the world is shown for about a second before game crashes. However in that second there are no shaders, and no distant LODs shwoing if that makes a difference. Again, error code 6. I attached the most recent log as well. Its worth noting I tested with Bliss. I'll try once more with BSL and cover the results.
Same result with BSL, crashed upon loading into world with error code 6. Here is the log for that test as well if it helps any.

For the record or anyone following along, the issue still does occur in the lastest nightly build.

will be fixed (probably) in iris's next release
I also asked the same question on the Iris discord and didn’t get much assistance. I shared them the same logs and they had me test with and without distant horizons. Nothing fixed it however. I’ll test the next release of Iris when it’s released.
apparently im blind and they released beta 4 like 7 hours ago, that should fix it
roger that. I’ll test it out and give it a try.
On my mac, with the newest version of sodium and iris it works with BSL and Complementary. Some graphical errors, but game runs now 💪
