Enable block sides for LODs to improve AA flickers?
Hi, I am trying to fix an anti aliasing issue that happens at longer distances using shaders and DH together, I tried tweaking TAA settings within bliss to no avail, I thought of this solution - making the distant blocks have whole sides (like the snow blocks next to me) which would get rid of the small horizontal lines which would maybe improve the flickers as well. Is this possible? If not, or there is a some other better way of improving the distant AA flickers please let me know, thank you :)

if anyone is looking for this, what works for me is running with DSR on 2.25X DL
but it cuts my fps from 100 to 60 as im GPU bound
so thats not really a solution for me personally, ill try looking for something else
sadly QDAA isn't updated to 1.21 at this time so that's not an option
changing supersampling and increasing mipmaps doesnt help either
i might just leave it as is as it only happens in a few places
if anyone thinks of a different solution please let me know, ill leave the post open. i cant think of anything else i could try
but im guessing that there isnt a solution that doesnt cut my fps almost in half
DH blocks have sides
IDK what you mean
You can decrease quality preset to make Distant LODs bigger to reduce the ”noise” that may be the main cause of flicker
Decreasing DH RD might also help
It doesn't need to be, the QDAA version without GUI runs on almost any version, including 1.21(.x)
QDAA will act like DSR 2.0X if I’m not mistaken
aaah i see gotchu
i mean full sides like i have with vanilla tweaks
so my snow and grass sides look like this instead of having dirt on them
but DH doesn't seem to render dirt and snow this way
with my texture pack
what i mean is if it rendered full blocks like I have it in my texture pack then thatt would remove all the small horizontal lines and it wouldnt trip the AA bug
as a potential fix
but im not sure how to make DH render with full sided blocks like that
or if its even possible
just an idea i had
thanks ill give it a shot but based on what miki says it will probably just chop my fps by 40
You can turn off the transition somewhere in dh's settings
Yea it probably will
any idea where? i tinkered with all the settings and couldnt find much
Solution
Grass side rendering IIrc
IDK where
Same
there is no way i missed that
im stupid sorry
i think that seems to have worked like how i expected
thank you very much :D
Nice!
@depiipipip8p8p8 any solution on the flickering yet?
AA or higer resolution
AA can be:
- FXAA
- TAA
- QDAA
Higher resolution might be:
- DSR
- higher resolution monitor
QDAA is the name of the mod. SSAA is the name of the anti aliasing it implementa
True, though searching for MC SSAA most likely won't return QDAA
And QDAA adds AA so the listing is still correct 😙
Lol
