Lions, Tigers, and Bears (all in your closet) - Topic of the day 9/3/24
From the Polo Bear to the Lacoste alligator to BAPE's ape some of the most notable brands adopted pet mascots. How do you feel about fashion brands and their various mascots? Does the presence of a logo improve or worsen your perception of an item of clothing? To what degree do you enjoy them displayed on clothes? What logo is the best overall?

Logos I like : good and fine
Logos I dislike : bad, logomania, racial/class coded insults.
what about dogs
Can’t disliking logomania be considered racial and class coded though?
Yeah fair, I was just being slightly flippant.
All good I get that you were memeing haha
kapital tiger logo is fun
some logos are more acceptable to my brain than others. like i’m now very tired of wearing the pokémon logo because i have the last ten years of my life nonstop and i feel like it tends to ruin most other prints.
what is the logo left of levis
it’s for a biking brand
what is the brand? and what is the rhino one
fox racing. rhino is ecco unlimited
MX/Mountain Biking
oh cool
jesse pinkman is like constantly costumed in ecco during brba
o fr
modern ecco isn’t terrible? just isn’t all to my taste tho
Lacoste logo underrated
personally to me some notable animal mascots are palm angel's stuffed animals that are ripped
wait we're all forgetting about the GOAT
his swag too different
polo bear goated
I want a Lacoste acrylic cardigan
Tho idk how I feel about the logo
lacoste cdg shirt logos are goated
maybe the Lacoste logo would be cool, feel like that cardigan does need a logo
That's sick af
If i'm still breathing Lacoste will have 1 hater
ig to answer the prompt: I'm a sucker for mascots but they gotta be good. I can't and won't qualify what I mean by that, it's all vibes.
The insane part is not even the logo but the price
psycho bunny is the ugliest shit I have forgotten the face of my enemy but you reminded me this exists
Ok back to iconic logos
any cool octopus or squid logos?
The lil crocodile is so cute!
yes
Absolutely.I enjoy a good mascot/logo but ugly ones really detract from the garment for me - if the prl shirts had the polo bear on them instead of that silly rider i would be copping much more secondhand prl.
Anyone know any pig logos? At some point I'm going to get a butchers pig cut diagram put on something.
studio d'artisan does some, I think it started as a joke with pigs instead of horses in the Levis logo. I don't really pay attention to that brand though so idk how wide spread it is
oh damn, I think I knew that at one point but forgot
I may have seen some sukajan jackets with pigs
wtffffff this is so hard
want
i saw this from another server lol
I’m not big on graphic anything, but I’m down with the little embroidered logos. Lacoste croc, A&F moose and the Rodd & Gunn dog are my favorites
this one's cool honestly i like the funk this has going on
(you have successfully sent me down the piggy-hole)
Part pig technically
I think a mascot is a creative way of interweaving a storyline with a garment. Adds a deeper layer of thought and can represent different elements of the garment at once
The hotdog is a perfect example of being classy and yet very accessible
Another favorite is the pigeon from staple
You look at the dunk and you get it instantly, it’s inspired by the city with its pigeon
Without the logo you wouldn’t get it
sometimes a little guy on the clothing makes me want to buy it more
I like playful logos and most animal logos fit the bill
lowkey a fan of these little guys
this happy chap as well
:wsulol:
No :cdg: discourse
A dubious creature
I’m definitely in the minority in that I don’t really enjoy wearing logos.
i like these guys
Damn I want this lol. Love a pigeon
I appreciate a logo when it’s unobtrusive usually, like a small flair. When the logo is the center of the whole piece it’s not my thing. An example I see around me is the Ralph Lauren sweater with the teddy bear on front. The bear is fun but when it’s large and the centerpiece of attention it’s not my thing
drake‘s x st.john collab
you can even get it as a little pin from drake‘s: https://www.drakes.com/products/st-john-by-drakes-pig-enamel-pin-1
Drakes
St. JOHN by Drake's Pig Enamel Pin
The right pin can elevate an entire outfit and offers a glimpse into a story beyond simple accessories - be it club membership, social proclivities, or simply as a sartorial nod to those in-the-know.
Carry a little bit of St. JOHN and Drake’s around on your lapel with this enamel pin, featuring our free range take on
oh the pin is sick
I don't know if it came up but Studio D'Artisan have a whole bunch of pig based tee's. Lots on ebay/buyee. Mostly kinda cheesy but possibly some cool designs if you look long enough
Someone mentioned and it unlocked a memory of agonising over whether a pig sukajan jacket was appropriate or not. I'll def take a look at the tees.
A similar denim brand, TCB, often uses cute cat motifs which I enjoy
some of my favorite denim logos: Oni, Momotaro, Freewheelers, Tanuki, Indigofera
F in the chat for peach boy
they killed him
Oh no they did ?
they rebranded to whatever that is
woke agenda killed peach boy
Peach boy is literally momotaro
Bring back the bowl cut freak boy
I really want to like indigofera based on the label, but im not convinced by their cuts tbh
Their Kirk cut is my ideal jean
High rise, full top block, wide, straight
Is it high rise? Bc their site says mid rise? I think thats my main issue with their stuff, the rises look so low...
I have them and it’s a 13” front rise
13'' sounds great
If you’re actively looking for a jean with a deep rise I’d suggest the Warehouse 1001 perhaps
Not actively looking rn, but its always good to know ones options basically. And indigofera is a made in EU brand so its easier to get their stuff here
Oh yeah
Theyre more reasonably priced over there too iirc
I really like their non-blue denim. Like the "desert spring" hawk jeans
I want an indigofera poncho. I keep an eye out for the bright blue one resurfacing for resale
Also their blankets are amazing
I want one of their blankets so bad
Will probably be one of the things I get for myself for Christmas
Big Indigofera fan here, I have to consciously restrict myself otherwise I'll end up with more of their stuff than anything else in my wardrobe
it feels wrong to have too much of one brand for some reason
Then get too much of two brands to balance out
If a brand matches your vibe I have no hesitation going all in.
Their flannel shirts look very nice as well.
I may have done that with sugar cane shirts 😂
Back to more indigofera then!
you're right though, if these things fit my style then no shame in buying them
They had a 3d skull one that came with glasses
Haha yes
I have one of their Norris flannel shirts, fit is great (for me) and it's wonderfully soft
There is a red one at 50% off in germany: https://www.burgundschild.com/de/indigofera/decke-yorick-indigofera-x-bjoern-atldax

Yeah they’re sick. I think it would fit in well with my Pendleton blanket. I want the death tarot one:

Would you hang it on the wall? Seems a shame to actually use it as a blanket
It's a very good thing I already have a (admittedly less rad) western style blanket
I picked this up last Christmas, it's a great blanket unless your gf is wool sensitive and prefers her soft polyester ones
Sounds like a skill issue 😄
More blanket for me
No I’d use it as a blanket
Probably get a lot of mileage out of it as a porch blanket in winter and picnic blanket in spring
They're really nice year round since wool temperature regulates well. I've used mine on summer mornings just to feel cozy without overheating
Sounds idyllic
Yeah, I wrap up in mine in the mornings (unless the cat gets there first)
That’s my goal in life
