Eco-friendly fabric softeners, or any other way to soften this material?
I don’t know what the material type is but it’s not fleece and 100% cotton. It was handwashed at 30°C as recommended.

Have you tried brushing it a little?
Now I have. Did not make a difference sadly :(
You can try regular household vinegar (can add an essential oil for a fun smell if you like) and dryer balls. Also something I found was I was using too much detergent and using less my clothes come out softer
The vinegar futzes with the pH and somehow that helps with softness (I can’t explain how) but the dryer balls are just physically getting thrown against the clothing while it’s drying so if the fibers are stiff it helps break that stiffness
I second the vinegar approach. Once you've washed clothes, put the vinegar into the fabric softener slot in the drawer of the machine and set it on a gentle rinse cycle for 20-30 mins or so.
Thanks for the tip! The instructions say handwash only, so no machines, but I'm confused by the order of instructions: if you wash first and rinse with vinegar second, then how are you supposed to get the smell of vinegar out?
like even if there's a lot of water surely the fabric will end up smelling of vinegar?
I’ve personally never had that issue, but if you look up DIY fabric softener it’s pretty always just vinegar with an essential oil for scent so I think that takes care of it if you find the smell to be an issue
In my experience the vinegar doesn’t smell once it dries. Same with cleaning surfaces with vinegar
The vinegar smell never really hangs around tbh, air drying will definitely get rid of it.
Amazing. You live and you eventually, finally learn
Thanks so much for the vinegar tip everyone.
