ERROR : chunk generation timed out and terminated, please lower CPU load.
My specs : RTX 2070 SUPER
RYZEN 5 3600X
16GB RAM
What i have tried so far:
-Using a lower cpu load from DH mod itself, and setting it to low at the very least, and modifying how many threads I used to generate chunks. So I went from aggresive to low in DH settings, and I went from 4 to 8 threads in the minecraft settings. Still did not work.
-Using a pregenerated world also did not work,it was a 7.5GB zip with a fully pregenerated world,it asbolutely did not render more than 32 chunks.
-Using chunky to pregenerate chunks, thats the most logical conclusion I came to after watching some videos on youtube. Again, rendering more than 15 minutes gave me the error and stopped chunks generating alltogether.
-I tried flying around the world with a high speed to load it without the help of chunky, but if I did do that, the chunks were either generating very badly with shadows or errors,or past a certain point, they simply stopped appearing.
-I tried disabling all my chunk pregeneration and optimization mods with the same modpack, still did not work, the same thing happened.
-I tried using DH and chunky on a whole new separate provile by themselves with no other mod,so I had 2 mods, still didnt work, did not see any improvement actually,it was even worse.
Msi afterburner:
-CPU is really close to 100% even at a low load preset and a low quality preset
-MSI afterburner shows constant use after about 15-20 minutes with chunky of MORE THAN 16GB OF RAM,thats how much ram I own, only 16gb.
-CPU temps do not exceed about 81 degrees, which is accurate from the last time I changed my thermal paste and stress tested at 100%.
My settings:
-Fps is set to unlimited
-Everything else is on a lower preset, like particles or graphics,I also did not use shaders
What I think I could try:
-Setting the affinity to high in task manager,I dont think I've done that so far.
-Limiting FPS
my hardware could be faulty though,as my ryzen 5 3600x has pulled in low numbers in testing, like 500 on cinebench.

Send modlist
sure 🙂
what the
is the list too big?
wait
i have like 80 mods
sending the list doesnt seem to work
maybe its too big
i can screenshot
Sure
Holy
That's alot of world gen mods
here is the important bit lol
yeah
i did try to
use only DH
and chunky
Yeah I think that's sorta expected to have high cpu usage, One reccomendation tho is to decrease the ram alloc
decrease?
I have like 12gb
oh
Then it's fine
/chunky
Chunky is known to cause LODs to turn into swiss cheese and bloat up world size, as can be seen in the attached screenshot.
We recommend you enable "Distant Generation" in Distant Horizons' settings and wait.
If you actually want to pre-generate vanilla chunks along with LOD data, disable Distant Horizons, wait for chunky to finish, then re-enable Distant Horizons.
Dh showing that message while chunky is running is normal
will it keep on generating chunks if I let it be?***
it had generated like
90k chunks
Dh?
Or chunky
when i came back i saw like 20 blocks in the distance
chunky
right before it exploded again
Chunky only generates depending on the radius inputed
i put in like 4000
so
thats before it gave the error
:))))
Yeah i think you should do this first
If you want a big world and also dh chunks
I jus wanna see far, thats about it
is chunky gen different from DH?
so dh renders its own thing while chunky just loads the actual chunks?
will try this
pretty much how it looked
ohhh
so you disable DH
then you use chunky
then you enable it again to render its own thing
chunky should be ~50% slower then DH generator
well i can set all sorts of stuff with chunky, idk if I can set the speed
but isnt it better to just load the vanilla world without DH completely
and enable it after
LOD generation will be around 50% if you won't use chunky at all, and just open a world with DH and wait
/slowgen
If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Install Noisium and Faster Random, these mods optimise world generation code.
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)You can increase the timeout limit in DH settings
and keep your CPU load under 100%
yeah well i cant use noisium cause im on forge,im on rubidium, and if I set the cpu load too high it will start giving out errors like no tomorrow about lowering cpu load and stopping generation,it will basically just stay like that
low impact is pretty much still around there
I wish I could cap it at 90% or something idk
I feel like I would encounter the same stuff
so I can also just not use chunky, log in a world and wait?
still generating fairly quick which is good but yk,then it stops generating like a quarter way in so yeah
idk
Yes, that is what built in DH generator is for
Try the second part of the bots message to see if it is still working
.
Chunky's bars progresses faster only because it does not create LODs, if you sum the time required by chunky with the time required by DH after chunky it is 50% greater then using DH generator
DH generator also does not save vanilla chunks, so the world size is smaller
oh
should I disable all other chunk gen mods?
like automatic chunk pregenerator, better chunk loading etc
better chunk loading can stay
okay
all pregenerators will be ~50% slower so they should be removed
ohh gotcha
C2ME can also slow down DH by ~30%
never tried that glad I haven't,I heard its not that great
I'll try to just join and let DH generator do its thing and see if it works
if the cpu load error pops up again do I just ignore it?
NOISIUM and Faster Random speed it up by -5 to +10% (depends on IDK what)
maybe fabric could've helped me but the cool mods aren't on fabric 💀
You most likely can, yes
You can also increase the time limit or disable this message in chat in DH settings
mmkay i'm giving it a shot
my forge is also 47.2.20 so it's not the actual latest version
i saw its quite a bit behind
Both of them can run on forge, noisium has a forge port and F R can be run using Syntra Connector
i might try noisium then
i did use syntra connector for some mods
sorta works
might give it another shot
this is what i'm going with
idk if 256 is a bit too much
it might be
i dont even have that much ram

Modrinth
Faster Random - Minecraft Mod
A significantly faster Random Generator implementation for Minecraft, with near vanilla parity.
i'll try 128 i think
I have it at 1024 but the time required to fully generate such distance is ~24 hours
You can play during the generation and it should fill it up eventually
It does not decrease fps much
by the way, does noisium and faster random have any compatibility problems with rubidium? thats my "performance" mod, aside from better chunk loading,I just have a lot of chunk related mods
like better loading and such
will it explode or can I use them np?
no
You should embeddium over rubidium
You should be able to use them
better?
thats perfect
But DH 2.2 probably won't run with Rubidium
Also I think the rubidium in the logs thingy is just a stub made by embeddium
So rubidium add-ons can run with embeddium
OH NO wait it is embeddium lol,I uninstalled rubidium I just forgot about it
You should have Embeddium
Or better Sodium on forge/neoforge
I BARELY JOINED BRO
omg
i have it on low impact
im not changing it
Increate the CPU load or ignore the message
Holes should fix themselfs with time
You can also decrease DH RD for some time, and increase it later
k its on low now
not minimal impact
🤔
hm
maybe this is why
16 GB of system memory starts to quickly be to low of a amount...
yea lol
i did try to just play a little while
it is fiiinee
not everything is rendered
but it is working,it was rendering stuff
aside from the odd holes and whatever
but it is better
