DH 1.21 Won't load LODS
I've tried everything in the #faq-problems-and-fixes and none of them work.

If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Install Noisium and Faster Random, these mods optimise world generation code.
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)Try the second part please
It doesn't show any boxes
I'm using ThreatenGL is that making DH not work?
What is that?
harold emoji
it makes minecraft uses a newer version of openGL
How new are we talking? OpenGL 4 and above?
4.6.0
No idea why you need it when the game itself will try and request for the highest OpenGL version support, only dropping down when the GPU itself is incapable of supporting it.
Oh alright
I'll uninstall it then
can it be an issue with the fabric loader?
Hard to tell. I usually sticks to the latest version available for the game version it's made for.
Alright
DH worked for a little while, but then it stopped working lol
World gen still running I assume?
If the world generator is running, then it should be working now.
Vanilla world gen works
I guess it doesn't cache or load the LoDs
Can you share an F3 screenshot while in a world? Info on the middle right should show if Distant Horizons doing work or not.
Assuming you set your GUI scale to 2. GUI scale of Auto will crop away that info.
Of course you use Better F3...

Anyways,
World Gen Task
is showing numbers, which means Distant Horizons is working.
The numbers seems rather small. What CPU Load preset you choose in Distant Horizons settings?agressive
Zen+ was that weak for Minecraft?
idk
Eh, upcoming Distant Horizons update should significantly improved the world generator performance.
No no, it's a known fact. Your CPU is a Zen+ architecture, and this architecture is very bad to play Minecraft with.
*Modern Minecraft to be precise.
ohhh
in what way tho
i made a new instance for my modpack, and in the instance dh doesnt load the LoDs, in the old instance, dh worked perfectly fine
Something about the architecture that, for some reason, Minecraft poorly utilized despite hammering the threads.
Anyways, off I go to buy breakfast.
alright
bye
Does anyone have an idea why it happens?
The LOD data is saved per-world for singleplayer, and per-instance for multiplayer. Assuming what you mean by instance is something like unique install of Minecraft akin to like Prism launcher does, well, you will need to move the LOD data from the world on the original instance to the new one.
Tried, the LOD data just didnt load
Hmm, have you make sure to copy over the entire saved LOD data folder?
yeah
Peculiar. How is the folder structure looking like?
3 files
ig
its all sqlite files
the file sizes get bigger, but it still doesnt show any LoDs
Do you disable rendering by any chance?
nope
I made a new instance with only DH as the mod
Still doesn't work

You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link.Issue fixed, the LoDs randomly started working again
"Randomly"
Not something you like to hear in the PC space, but fair enough.

i know lmao
But now DH works perfectly like normal
