Need a few suggestions on mods
So I've been running a fabric (1.21) server for a while, and I've been looking at some potential options for mods that make the game more interesting, but also staying as close as possible to vanilla.
We have tried:
Terralith (positive feedback)
BetterEnd (negative feedback)
BetterNether (negative feedback)
Bosses Of Mass Destruction (no feedback)
True Ending (no feedback)
and similiar other mods
The issue is though, these mods drive the game further and further from vanilla, putting some players (me included) that does not want to get out of the comfort zone of vanilla into a weird situation.
So if possible, what other mods should I try that are more focused around vanilla mechanics?
Currently considering:
Geophilic 2.0
End Reborn
Croptopia

and the list of mods that I use as a foundation
βfarm with easeβ is a nice QOL mod
krypton from my experience, does nothing but cause packet issues :YEP: (Negative)
anti-xray has some issues but not common. in my case it caused clients to crash time to time. but it did work. (Neutral)
terralith ill say negative from me, its a great mod but increases world generation time by a Ton, which is not fun when having larger player counts. (Negative)
Bosses of mass destruction is a very nice mod with pretty god bosses (Positive)
For the considering mods, beware that world gen mods can at times increase the time it takes to make new chunks.
AntiXRay hasnβt caused any issues for us.
Itβs purely server side
Terralith issues can be nullified with Pregeneration
ye, we do pregen
however BE/BN takes a decade to generate
so throwing those two off
maybe something like farmers delight if you want to go that far
Really? Never had the nether take more than an hour and end maybe 12
BE took us 10 hours to generate 5k radius
π
wtf?
what hardware
specs
pass em
Wait
5k radius??
youβre doing 40k overworld?
circle
end
old shitty xeon, 2667 v3
:pain:
ouch
whos your provider
me
LOL
self hosted?
ye
:Sadge:
at least no monthly costs
not counting electricity
or ddos prot
what do i care, my other servers can idle at 100w+
lmao fair
and ddos is not a concern, since I know all of them in person, they want to play anyways, so the players would find out whoever is causing issues and beat them up
thats good at least
so right, back to the mods, farmer's delight is only updated to 1.20.4
and yes, terralith will be ditched if I do go with geophilic
you should check out Tectonic
its good with terra so do as you please with that info :Sadge:
but its a really cool world gen mod
Lithosphere looks a little more cinematic from the gallery
that looks good
@ππππΎππΎπΈ would recommend Noisium for better pregen times
actually
Noisium after testing didnt do much
:hmm:
CTOV is quite nice
Repurposed structures
sadly does not support 1.21(?)
check out Nullscape for the end
unless Modrinth is lying when I have the 1.21 fabric filter
they support 1.21
nvm
it reset
wtf?
fabric or forge?
fabric
yeah thought so
nullscape does not add new blocks, just generation right?
just world gen iirc
sounds great, will throw that in
https://modrinth.com/mod/what-are-they-up-to
this mod a cute qol
Modrinth
What Are They Up To (Watut) - Minecraft Mod
Lets you see if players are typing, in a GUI, idle, with cool ingame visuals
^^^
croptopia might also be added, or farmers delight depending on if they release 1.21 in time
Explorers compass maybe
id say too op
Moogβs end structures
natures is better for more vanilla
Terrestria
Yeah fair
Maybe, C2me
to go with it, this also https://modrinth.com/mod/chat-heads
π
alright, will go with lithosphere and geophilic for overworld, nullscape for end
sweet
is there something for nether?
just wanted to tweak generation, but not add new items
Moogβs nether structures
Uses vanilla blocks
ah hmm, was going to say Incendium but that adds items
etc
thanks, will look into it
np
I've also overheard that the players are planning to build hogwarts this time, so I was also looking at a few spell mods
There's spell engine that i've looked at
check out Wizards
spell engine is just a library
mm, wizards look interesting, will also drop that in
oop, doesnt support 1.21
ahh..
sadge
Zauber maybe?
Trickster?
Trickster looks cool
I'll take a little time to look into both
alright, anything else?
(cicada lib is needed for trickster)
!solved thanks for the input guys!
