DH doesn't seem to be doing anything, using an override to run DH on 1.21.1.
I briefly had it working and then tried installing the server fork onto a server I run from the same computer, after doing that I cannot seem to get it to work either in the server or singleplayer worlds. The game loads and I can access the settings, but the only chunks being shown in-game are the vanilla rendered chunks. The mod-list is attached.
I'm sure there is something silly that I've done and missed something simple, so I apologise in advance. (Thanks in advance as well!)
Side-note, complementary shaders are listed as supported, should complementary reimagined work then?

If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Install Noisium and Faster Random, these mods optimise world generation code.
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)Try the second part
ive turned both on, i still see nothing happening
actually there is a line crossing over my crosshair now but thats it
looking at the distant horizons stuff in the bottom right, it does look like its working away at stuff but i just dont see anything
DH's renderer is broken.
Try the following:
1. Remove your other mods
2. Update to the latest fabric launcher
3. re-download DH
4. update to your latest GPU drivers
5. Re-install your Minecraft instance
where all do i need to remove files in order to completely wipe any traces of DH from my minecraft? the mod itself obviously and then ive seen the files in the data folder for each world save, is there anything else?
ive done steps 1-4 with no change but when reinstalling DH the debug settings were still applied so i assume i missed something
/config
To edit the config, press the button next to the FOV slider to edit the config.
The config file found in .minecraft/config/DistantHorizons.toml
the config is the only other file DH creates
alright gotcha
Solution
deleting the config file and loading back in has it working!
Awesome 🎉
i will just make sure it stays working when i re-enable my mods before resolving this i think
while im here, ive got the server fork installed on my local server, does that make any chunk rendered by any player on the server load into my DH/any client using DH while on the server?

This is a mod that adds a Level Of Detail (LOD) system to Minecraft. This implementation renders simplified chunks outside of the normal render distance allowing for an...
so the LODs being generated are the same as if DH was running client side, but the work is just being done by the server rather than the client?
i apologise if the questions are trivial, i am just very unfamiliar with anything like this and have only recently installed any mods that are not optifine 😄
Not exacly the same way iirc
The server generate a n intermidiate that lacks the final generation step
and sends that to the client
at least it worked that way in the past
the final generation spet?
typo
ah okay
apologies if this is just going over my head, but does that mean the server effectively does the bulk of the work and then sends that to the client to be finished off client side?
yes
cool thank you
