Western Belt

I want a nice western belt with a cool buckle as an accessory bc I feel my belt-game is lacking. Thinking in terms of the one @WARP is wearing a lot of the time. Im planning to get some fun vintage buckles secondhand and am looking for a belt to wear them with. Ideally I would want a belt where i could exchange the buckle with a snap button system or something. Any recommendations on belts from EU manufacturers that have such a snap button system? Looking for durable quality leather that will look good for a long time.

I only know of this site cuz there’s a few cowboy action shooters out in Northern Europe and a few in Italy and Spain https://www.worldofwestern.de/en/?activeRootId=gender-1#

They should have some good options, though some of it leans more costume

Another option is to look for belt that has the buckle secured using chicago screws, that will allow you to change out buckles unfortunately I don't know of any belt makers within the EU

Although if you wanted to spend lots of money and go fully custom, this guy makes some nice belts (but is based in the UK) https://www.instagram.com/duke_mantee/?hl=en

Looks beautiful and I think the actual duties on belts are not too bad. Gotta think about how much money i want to spend...

just to potentially get those wheels turning then, here's one I found elsewhere that he actually made and sent to Germany recently

The idea of some cowboy cosplayer from Denmark or something wearing a confederate flag belt is genuinely so funny

Unfortunately you don't have too look too far with western stuff in europe to find confederate flags

Could also check Etsy for some handmade stuff. There’s a lot of leather workers out there

Duke has some cool vintage buckles as well that he can use or source for you if you do go the custom route

Relatable Having done something similar (my buckle is sewn in, not exchangeable) is that this route will likely not be cheaper than buying new but if you do it right the cost should be similar. In my case my buckle set was cheap but it had damage that the seller didn't disclose and I had to take it to a bench jeweler before having the belt made Since what you want is so specific it might be a good idea to find a leatherworker first and make sure they can do it, then see if they have any requirements for the buckle. It should save you some pain down the line.

Good point. I will keep that in mind.

Being in a similar situation of having an idea in my mind of the kind of western belt I want and not seeing anything so far to buy ready made. I'm leaning towards getting something made to order (probably from Duke Mantee) because otherwise I know i'll end up disappointed with what I buy Not saying you're in the same situation Leo, but something to consider

I think what really helps my case is that my current belts are mostly quite milquetoast. Im considering getting a nice belt buckle of the kind that can exchanged easily and a very plain cheap-ish belt with a snap button system. And then I can upgrade the belt later and keep the buckle when I feel like I need to. Do you know how much a belt from them costs (I suppose the skys the limit with these things, thinking more of rough whereabouts)? Also whats your ideal western belt? Now you got me curious ^^

I think that the custom ones with lots of detail work cost around $200.

Oh wow. Thats less than I feared it would be

Hollows in the US is another option for a more plain belt 200 British pounds actually

Yeh I think somewhere in the regiong of £200-250 for one from Duke. That probably varies depending on leather choices and amount of stitching Hollows I've also had my eye on for a while, the goblin armor belt is a western adjacent one that's been in my mind for a while too

This page shows you the various extras you can get from Hollows - https://www.hollowsleather.com/materials

Ooh. The flower cult pattern is really nice!

Saying that, it looks like Hollows stitch the buckle onto the belt so you would have to ask them if they could do chicago screws if you wanted to be able to change it That one is really cool too

I have a standard garrison style belt from Hollows in dark brown bridle and really like it

I’ll probably get one from Duke at some point but I wanted a more basic workbelt first and wanted to narrow down exactly what I would want (probably a thunderbird or the galaxy pattern or Moby Dick one)

Wait He has a moby dick one?!?
