What do you mean with "pack"? Did you put it directly into the
.minecraft
folder or the mods
folder? Make sure you're running an instance with a modloader installedso i downloaded the nightlybuild folder and fabric and dragged the folder into .minecraft then the mods folder
You need to open the downloaded folder, then the
merged
folder and then drag the contained mod into the .minecraft/mods
folderim a little confused on how to do that lol
Which step exactly?
right so i dragged the mod from the merged folder to .miecraft/mods and now ive got a pop up saying Incompatible mods found
Can you send a screenshot
yeah
Well you're using DH for 1.21, but are using mc 1.21.1
right, i have no clue to be honest
could i hop into a call and you show me how to do it?
Sorry, can't go into a call rn
Thers no DH version for 1.21.1 currently, so if you want to use DH and 1.21.1, you will have to do this: https://discord.com/channels/881614130614767666/1271477617400217620/1271480238299152494
i dont have a config file lol
It would be easier for you to use MC 1.21 instead of 1.21.1
And it would be easiest to use a custom MC launcher like Modrinth App or Prism
Modrinth APP has better GUI
config
is a folder, not file. And like miki_p98 said, just use MC 1.21 insteadIs there no videos showing how to do all of this?
Its difficult when your saying stuff i dont understand lmao
Modrinth
Download the Modrinth App!
The Modrinth App is a unique, open source launcher that allows you to play your favorite mods, and keep them up to date, all in one neat little package.
Easiest is to just download Modrinth App, create a new profile there, set it to Mc 1.21 and download DH from inside the launcher
Here is Modrinth tutorial:

that is alot easier
thank you
Should i keep these settings?
/recommend
Every system is different, so while we can't say exactly what will work best for you, here area few suggestions:
GPU
- For integrated and low end laptop GPU's
- Start with a DH render distance of about 64
- You may need to drop the vertical and horizontal quality settings
- For mid to low end desktop GPU's
- The default settings should be a good starting point
CPU
- Less than 4 Cores
- Disable the world generator
- Drop the thread config to 1 thread for each option
- DH render distance shouldn't affect CPU load
- 6-8 Cores
- The default settings should be a good starting point
If you need additional help tweaking performance, the FAQ has additional tips and tricks, or you can create a thread in #help-me if you have a specific issue.
It is your preference
Higher CPU load = lower fps but faster loading
ok, what would be your reccomendations for a
2060 OC
Ryzen 7 3700x
16gb ram
also how do i add shaders etc?
the game looks bland and stutters
Default settings should be pretty good
For shaders, you'll need to install the iris mod, and a compatible shader
/shadersupport
Distant Horizons and Iris Shader Support Requirements:
- Minecraft 1.20.1, 1.20.4, 1.20.6, 1.21
- Sodium 0.5.8 or above
- Iris 1.7.0 or above
- Indium version 1.0.30 or above
- Fabric API (latest version)
- Distant Horizons version 2.1.0 or higher
- Compatible Shaderpack: https://gist.github.com/Steveplays28/52db568f297ded527da56dbe6deeec0e

how do i know which one to download?
Do you mean what shader?
which is the best shader i mean
You can find a list of compatible shaders here: https://gist.github.com/Steveplays28/52db568f297ded527da56dbe6deeec0e
Best is subjectiv, although I like complementary reimagined the most
and do i download fabric or forge?
For iris, you'll need to use fabric
if im using modrinth
The launcher doesn't matter (atleast if you're not using a custom client like feather or lunar)
ok, so i download fabric api?
Yea, its also required when using DH and Iris
ok ive downloaded fabric api
Just so theres no confusion, fabric API and fabric are different things
right ok
how do i know if the shaders are compatable with fabric api?
All shaders are compatible with fabric api
ok ive installed Complementary Shaders - Reimagined
then when i boot the game up the shaders dont show
Well, you need to enabled them
i have
And there are no changes visible?
nope

You should send your
latest.log

Logs are located in the .minecraft/logs

Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.

Also, since you're using chunky: /chunkyChunky is known to cause LODs to turn into swiss cheese and bloat up world size, as can be seen in the attached screenshot.
We recommend you enable "Distant Generation" in Distant Horizons' settings and wait.
If you actually want to pre-generate vanilla chunks along with LOD data, disable Distant Horizons, wait for chunky to finish, then re-enable Distant Horizons.
You don't even have iris installed
lol
it works now but my fps is so low
and stutters
my pc sounds like a plane

Flags:
-XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseZGC -XX:+ZGenerational -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+UseFastUnorderedTimeStamps
Flags descriptions:
-
-XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions
unlocks more tuning options
- -XX:+UseZGC
changes the JAVA garbage collector from stuttery G1GC to stutterless pararrel ZGC
- -XX:+ZGenerational
changes the ZGC mode from Progressive to Generational which fool proofs you from overallocating RAM. It takes what was best in G1 and puts it into Z (ONLY AVAIBLE ON JAVA JDK 21+)
- -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch
increases MC launch time but decreases RAM usage during gameplay
- -XX:+UseFastUnorderedTimeStamps
makes the timestamps in the logs less acurate in favor to performancei got rid of chunky whats the alternative?
what are the descriptions youve listed?
All pregeneration mods have the same effect afaik.
I’ve linked a list of performance mods that increase fps
And I gave you JAVA GC flags to decrease the stutter
The descriptions say what they do
ive imported all the modpacks to help with fps.
how do i import the flags?
Go into your Instance >
Options
> Java
> Java Arguments
> enable Override global java arguments
> Enter the flagsThis is in global settings, not the instances settings
ohh
I have them in globalne settings
my fps is still so low
I don’t trust myself to copy them to every new instance
After mods and flags only 2 things left are:
- decrease quality settings in game
- buy better hardware
Try decreasing CPU load and quality preset in DH
Set vanilla RD to Max 16, min 8
And vanilla simulation distance to 8
is this in the game?
Well, except the "buy better hardware", yes
what is this
my luck is so baf
bad*
It means something went wrong
Flag with GenerationalZ only works on JAVA 21
In the globalne settings:
- copy the path to JDK 21 from it’s field
- pastę it into JDK 17 field
It should not create problems
And it will allow the use of in theory best GC flags
Or you can swich to MC 1.21 that uses JDK 21 by default
whats jdk 21 and jdk 17
this is confusing
Just like MC has versions:
- 1.21
- 1.20.1
- 1.12.2
JAVA, the programming language MC is writen in has versions:
- 21
- 17
- 8
In the globalne settings in Modrinth there are paths to each version
Copy the path to JDK 21
And paste it as a path to JDK 17
Doing that will make Modrinth use JDK 21 for older MC versions
i still cant find it
have you got an image?
i cant remove the override commands i pasted
how do i fix this issue
@Miki_P98 could we hop into a video call and you tell me how to fix it?
i just want to play the game lmao
I'm not on my main PC so I don't even have JDK 21
But here are 3 paths:
- to JAVA 21
- to JAVA 17
- to JAVA 8
Copy the path from JAVA 21, if empty click
install recommended
And paste it into JAVA 17 fieldworks now thank you
no problem
