Did you happen to add any mods after updating?
not any that were not there before
i removed starlight because i was told too
oh, then idk lol, my game also sometimes produces black lods even without starlight
I think the problem with black lods is that it's kinda have to be a fix on dh mod's end
cus we know that dh takes lighting from vanilla chunks but have no idea why it doesn't work when there's no starlight involved
If you could sacrifice a few minutes of your time, you can try using the alpha sodium 0.6, alpha iris 1.8 and the dh nightly-build
specifically alpha sodium and iris cus they don't work with newest dh nightly-build
where do i get iris 1.8
I did make a new world to test stuff and it seems fine in the new one
DH 2.1.2 has a bug where it can't read starlight's format. That format won't go away by removing starlight. Regenerating the LODs won't always work because the format is also in your vanilla chunks.
In the iris discord
So how can I fix it?
Should I just downgrade DH
Using the nightly build together with iris 1.8 should work, but is experimental. Downgrading to DH 2.1.0 should also work
il try both
im playing on 1.20.4, i dont think they have a 1.8 version for it
Unfortunately not no
I am playing on the same client, 1.20.4 and to avoid the issue I should create a New World without using StarLight?
Yes, that would fix it
Rip ok, I wasn’t really planning on playing that world anymore anyway
Just waiting for most of my modest to be updated to 1.21
Then you shouldn't have any problems with DH 2.1.2 in a new world
Ok , I have created a fresh New World using the Client 1.20.4 + Fabric and DH 2.1.2-a and Iris 1.7.2 yet still have the same issue as described by the OP, Black chunks, particularly on the water. I didn't enabled any shaders to rule out that possibility and still get the same issue, what could it possibly be?
btw I am not using Starlight
In the first screenshot the shader is not coloring the water quite accurately. In the second screenshot everything is working as expected, that "wall" in the water is a longstanding issue that is hard to fix
