DH not loading at all
I tried to install DH for Minecraft 1.21, however in-game I'm not even getting the little DH icon in the options tab or anything. The mod is in the mods folder, and I'm using the Iris Fabric Load 0.15.11-1.21. I haven't seen anything the FAQ about what to do if the mod just doesn't load in at all. I get no crashes or anything, it just seemingly doesn't want to load in.

You should send your
latest.log
file to provide additional useful information.
Logs are located in the .minecraft/logs
directory.
On Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\logs
On Linux: ~/.minecraft/logs
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/logs
Please upload the file to mclo.gs instead of sending the raw file. This makes reading the contents of the file a lot easier and improves the chances of you getting the help needed.
After uploading the file, click on Save
and send the link.Iris installer does not use mods folder
Either move to the Iris folder
Or install fabric using fabric installer
Where's the Iris folder?
Its not recommended to do that, just install fabric using the fabric installer
https://fabricmc.net/use/installer/
In the same folder that mods folder is located
Oh is it the "iris-reserved" one?
Yea, in the
iris-reserved/(mc version)
folder, but again, I don't recommend that, instead install fabric using the fabric installerOk I moved it over, now I get this error when trying to launch
Update Sodium and install Fabric API
Now it says that my shader doesn't work with DH. Is there any way around that or if not what are the best shaders that do support it?
Ok so I switched to Complimentary as I already had those on hand, and while I don't get that message anymore, the game pretty much is still only stuck to default chunk rendering, only now with some weird behaviour with some chunks just being missing
Can you send a screenshot of what you mean with missing chunks?

If it feels like LoD generation with
Distant Generator
is too slow:
Try increasing CPU Load
in Distant Horizons settings for faster generation, but you will experience more lag spikes and stuttering due to heavier workload on CPU.
To see if Distant Generator
is really working or not:
1) Check CPU usage while in-game, using Aggressive
settings of CPU Load
. If CPU usage's hovering around 80-100%, the LoDs are generating in the background.
2) Go to DH settings > Advanced Options > Debug > Wireframe
, set Enable Debug Wireframe Rendering
and Show World Gen Queue
to True
.
Enabling both settings will show you the visualization of world gen tasks queued and working on the map (blue boxes for queued tasks, red boxes for working tasks)Seems like LODs are just still generating. Increase
CPU Load
inside DH's Settings to increase the LOD generation speedCPU load is already at max
Well, then just have patience
You could try adding performance mods and increasing RAM to speed generation up
It's been several minutes of me just being in this one spot and still nothing, is it supposed to take so long?
Also already allocated 16GB max to the game
When disabling shaders, does the render distance change?
yup
It does change?
Sorry, read it as "doesn't change"
Yeah it stays the same
Are you on multiplayer?
yes
On multiplayer, DH won't be able to generate LODs for chunks outside of your render distance
Do you have access to the servers modlist?
Does the server need to have anything specific installed?
If you want Distant Generation to work, you can try the serverside fork. For installation read pinned in https://discord.com/channels/881614130614767666/1154490009735417989
Note, you need Iris 1.8+ and Sodium 0.6+ for shader support with the serverside fork and DH nightly
Got the file, now how do I install it on the server itself?
Put the file into the servers
mods
folderIt doesn't have one, so where would I need to make the folder, the world's folder or the top-level folder?
Do you have a modloader installed on your server?
Toplevel folder (
.minecraft
)No
Well, as the serverside fork is a mod, you also need a modloader on the server.
Well what kind of modloader though, I've never worked with any mods before now?
I recommend fabric
